Here is what is being shown on how to wear your poorly fitting suit and dress sneakers. Hey, dress sneakers are not just for white guys anymore. View attachment 1738255 View attachment 1738257 View attachment 1738258 View attachment 1738259

Honestly I hate the sneakers with a suit look. I think it is horrid. And I am all for an athletic build with a suit that shows it off. But with the exception of the double breasted, these gentlemen are not going to be able to sit comfortably.

That three piece is putrid. Way too tight, the vest is a disaster, the trousers would fit him if he were 3 inches shorter, and the socks and runners have convinced me to not check this thread for the rest of the night.

Years ago I bought a suit like that from Suit Supply in Chicago. Totally impractical. I find the Brooks Brothers Milano or Regent provide a modern fit that actually functions for a gentleman who wears a suit to work.

Finally, AE stopped telling people to polish their suede.

You guys are intelligent and funny at the same damn time. Don't get sidetracked. Outlet malls do NOT run off renters because new vendors are not easy to obtain.
It is simple. AE's lease renewal concerns revolve around AE Corporate/Caleres. AE Corporate/Caleres chose not to renew the lease. If you follow the money and productivity, you will find the answers.
I was thinking the same thing. Lease agreements are negotiated by both parties. Evidence suggests that AE is shutting down the outlet stores.
Think of the number of outlets that have closed over the last 4-5 years.
And in that time, how many were opened?

I can’t say anything for the Mebane store, but for Charleston it wasn’t AE. AE wanted that shop. As a whole for all outlets, that may not be the case. Generally I agree that my experiences in store both outlet and retail have been lacking to say the least. If you don’t have a D width foot, just leave because they won’t have anything especially if it isn’t on the 65 and their interest in helping you… doesn’t exist. Now I’ll say that’s just for the places I’ve been I can’t speak for the rest. One of those shops has since closed and I’m not surprised at all.
Does anyone even shop outlets as a regular, in-person visit thing anymore?

I mean, I loved Charleston, but I never went there because it's a thousand miles away, and even if I had lived in the city, it was in the outskirts.

I think the model of an outlet is going to swiftly disappear. It was always a strange thing, anyway: let's open stores in the middle of nowhere to offer weird deals. It's like that episode of the Simpsons where Marge drives like, 250 miles for a Chanel bag.

I guess this depends where you live. In south Florida outlet malls are packed and there are several of them. I suspect an outlet mall has much less success in the middle of nowheresville where they still have dialup internet.

As the storm rolls by it leaves everything nasty and cold. A great day to wear some old stone washed jeans and suede to stay inside where it is warm and dry.

decent shoe?
Yes it is, I like the leather lining and the soles are long lasting Dainite. The shoe will have a good structured base. They also have some Strandmoks that are unlined and less structured. I am less of a fan of those. If the tongue is floppy, I usually cannot wear.

Well, since it appears a lot of the Higgins models are being phased out, it makes me wonder if we will see a lot of new variations of this boot in 2022. I know a lot of us have been feeling disappointed with the recent dress offerings, but I was told that this year would be the year that many styles return. We shall see what AE has in mind.

I had to clear some overnight snow from the driveway today. I cleared most of it last night, but we got a little more after I finished.
I wore flannel-lined jeans and a fleece-lined flannel shirt. And I went with these shearling-lined boots from Rancourt.

It was my understanding the Higgins Mill was the best selling boot, but perhaps there were too many models. I think I counted over ten different options.

Cautiously optimistic about the return of some styles. Don’t want to get my heart broken.

As an alternative, CU has one in the "Last Call" sale for $138 similar to these.

I've had this Strandmok in my cart over the weekend but ended up checking out with the regular strand in Cigar @179 or so.. Just realized that this one was included in the sale and buying before my size runs out. Already have a Bartlett in walnut, and this will be my first "real" strand in the collection. Not bad for the price paid.

Thought about the burnished olive, copper, & carbon as well. IMO, cigar would be more versatile.

What do you guys think?

Outlets aren't a big ny thing and I've never seen them in Illinois, either. But then again, not looking that often.

Ny does have that um...Woodbury commons? It's like 50 miles out of the city.

Perhaps the most vocal fan of the AE monkey boots is @donkeyhoatie .
So I can’t remember if we collectively agreed to refer to these boots accordingly, or if I simply thought one day that we should. You know what? Nevermind - the two are functionally indistinct within my own inner monologue.
