Wearing TS boots today.
I am still tracking how this pair was produced as it does not have pair numbering. I suspect that the pair was flagged for quality issues and the right was remade. I will know more when my SA gets back to work.

Re: the conversation about AE having eyes on any TS remakes

@Shoenut did you get an answer to this? Doing some much needed shell maintenance while watching football and realized my 2021 Freeport remakes have mismatched numbers. That might explain why I initially described them as looking like they were cut by different people.

The QC tracking on this pair:
-Deemed seconds on arrival
-Found out they were severely mislasted and requested a repair.
-Repair arrived not repaired at all; requested remake and paid for firsts
-Remade pair arrives with shredded inner box (shipping box in perfect condition), torn piping, so-so toe stitching, and mismatch numbering.

I know some might argue that numbers on the inside of a shoe are meaningless and it doesn't matter if a pair of shoes were crafted at the same exact time. Fair enough... but what if there is a visual difference between a mismatched pair?

My SA believes that the right actually tore the Shell during lasting. So 6 weeks later another right was cut and sewn. This is why my pair took so long. She thinks it was actually ripped Shell because if it wasn’t, the pair probably would have been sent to me.

Sounds like yet another TS pair that had an issue, caught by AE or otherwise. Hopefully you do not notice a major visual difference between the two.

I wonder if mismatched pairing is standard operating procedure for AE now. There was a time when you could score seconds merely because of this.

Yet another chapter of AE crapping on their customer... and not even having the decency to offer seconds pricing for the screw-up.

@Geoff928 that is a great looking rotation this week!

Happy holidays my forum friends! I have been quite absent this year but I lurk whenever possible. My purchases have been minimal this year, just a few TS sneaker sets. Go ‘Noles!

Working from home my work attire consists of a company t-shirt and on a good day some pants. Other days it is shorts…don’t go thinking otherwise. So I find it difficult to wear anything other than Maritime’s, Ely’s, or the occasional loafer.

My spare time has really moved into leather craft and ”vegan” leather. The name is really misleading. The vegan leather is actually webbing with a PVC coating. The barn is up to 46 horses. More than half of them are used for academy riding. Which means the leather tack gets abused, stepped on, broken, rarely sees conditioner, and in this Florida heat, you can imagine what happens. This “fake” leather is super easy to clean, and with a break strength of 750-1000 pounds, I don’t worry about the material.

I’ve also made some duffle bags, women’s purses, and wallets. I find it quite enjoyable. They are all currently unlined. That is my next progression - lining.

Someone at the barn asked if I could make them a dog collar out of the fake stuff. Sure. Next thing you know, I’ve made a lot out of different colors and widths.

This work led to a brave individual asking if I would make some…NSFW items for her. I’m not one to judge, so why not? That was quite interesting and I hope I get to do more! :embar:

Going to start an Etsy shop I think.

For Christmas, one of my relatives reached out to Laura at Tannery Row. I got a gift certificate and this shirt.

I’m not sure what leather to get, but I’ll put that certificate to good use!

An acquaintance in SC bought out the leather from a boot maker that closed down. He offered some to me, so I picked up 15 sides. This is in addition to the others that I picked up from Tannery Row recently. BFE43AC8-9EE7-4B70-8DCB-FF05FC15C1DC.jpeg
My garage now smells like leather.

The top one is natural Nubuck and is really nice. I also picked up some CF Stead kudu in spruce and turmeric. The suede side is really nice.

And AE if you are listening, the spruce color would be an instant buy for me!

Sorry to hear so many are having issues with their TS orders. That is disappointing. I hope they continue with the shows but learn to do better QC and still remain profitable.

Well, thanks for reading the rambling of an old guy in Florida. I hope you have all had very happy holidays, whether you celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, Festivus, or any other option. I wish you all a happy, healthy, and safe New Year!

Anyone wanna help load some mortar tubes for tomorrow night?
