It's Giving Tuesday, so I'm giving these TS burgundy shell HMs a little bit of run today. That's how Giving Tuesday works, right? I need to take some indoor pictures of these mofos just to show that the welt isn't really orange, it's natty. My iPhone camera is obviously deranged, which I guess is why we get along so well.

I'm pretty sure this was all just a figment of your imagination. :hide:

On a different note though, what is the last on the Chapman wingtip boot? There’s no info on the lasts page about it and the sale is decent right now with some excellent 3rd party cash back.

It's made on the 2215 last, and I know it's described as being relatively roomy, but I'll be honest that I haven't developed a big control group for this one yet. Just got them into my store and I'm looking forward to more feedback. Might make Jason try them on and give me some notes. Obsessed with the green combat. We should use that green for everything.

Loden Higgins vs. Green Chapman Combat. Hard to show the difference but the Chapman is more vibrant and less gray.

All right, I need advice from folks with culture and taste. Until I locate some, y’all will have to do. ? (rimshot)

I’ve received some lambs wool flannel trousers in what O’Connell’s calls “brick.” They are a bit darker and richer than the photo below suggests. They would be worn with either odd jacket & tie or just a sweater. Either way, I’m stumped as to the best color shoe to go with (you’d have thought I would have worked that out before buying, right?).

Black would seem to be obvious but I have an adversion to black shoes when not with a suit. So, all my black shoes are oxford cap toes; I have nothing in black less formal than that.

So my choices would seem to be (i) buy a less formal black shoe I wouldn’t wear much or (ii) make use of a different color. No, I don’t have any green or blue shoes apart from a blue suede chukka. Well, I take that back, I have a greenish brown chukka that C&J calls “ earth” or something.

Thoughts?

I’m thinking the navy suede would be good. If you’ve got something dark (green, navy, even burg) I think you’d be good. Depending on the exact in person color, I think I lighter color like walnut or natty could work, but I suspect you also have an aversion to lighter shoes than your trousers.

Brother, you read me like a book. Yes, guilty as charged. But, said aversion declines with the level of formality. No walnut Strands with navy suits but white basketball shoes with navy shorts is fine. A sliding scale.

I may test drive them with my truffle McGraws, walnut RLxAE Sandersons, and my Jefferson 1.0’s in dark brown and present some pics for review.

You want some contrast.
I would suggest trying dark brown or burgundy.
Also, that navy suede chukka sounds like a good option.
