Ordered my first pairs of Higgins Mill boots. Ordered the snuff and burnt sugar suede. Both were delivered today but I have questions concerning the quality. First looking at the snuff, is it common to have bald spots? I tried brushing the nap but made no difference.

The burnt sugar looks like the stitching machine removed sections of the nap.

I haven't seen these issues with my other pairs of suede boots from other manufacturers. ?‍♂️
I think that line near the stitching might be a guide line drawn on the suede. I’ve seen that before and it eventually wore away.

I don't know. I think the nap is just gone. Just tried using my suede eraser and it made no difference.

Both my trusty Jeep and Longbranch boots have been rode hard and put up wet. Both are broken in and feel like old friends. And both are getting cleaned this weekend.

The leather on the LBs has become so soft and so comfortable, it reminds me of the sorting hat from Harry Potter...

Wore the Black Hills today to finish up preparing for the start of our move tomorrow. The truck is coming tomorrow (thanks smfdoc for his suggestion on the company). I'm excited about that we're supposed to get heavy rain tomorrow, but why does it always rain in LA when I'm moving? I'll still be around in LA for another week or so.

So you agree that both pairs should be returned? Very disappointed as they look like they would be pretty comfortable.
Yes, I would like to echo that these should be exchanged. Waxed suede styles tend to be a little distressed, so some of this can be expected, but not to this degree, and not in the burnt sugar pair. Feel free to PM me if you aren't working with a store and bought them online. I want those, so I can send them to QC to take a look at.

Ashley is 100% the reason why I continue to buy Allen Edmonds as I can trust her 100% to do well by me everytime I get in touch with her or Jason.

Thanks for the really lovely words. There are many, many people in this company who are amazing. I wish some of you could meet some of the great people I've gotten to work with over the last 8ish years. So many great folks still with us, and many who have moved on. Kenard from Nashville is a great example. Did y'all know he hired me AND Kristen (Paramus) AND Jeff (Raleigh), all those years ago? I don't think a lot of people know that. He's a wave 1 host store btw.

Tried to capture a look at a piece of marbled black shell cordovan against various dainite colors in indoor lighting.

What are your thoughts and impressions?

I don't like the silly colours of dainite. I think they clash with anything. Dainite should be in subdued colours, or they really don't belong on dress boots, dress shoes, or work boots.

Grey or the brown dainite are the only two I think are worth considering.

AE put blue as standard on black leather and sane choice costs extra. ?‍♂️
