I believe that it is all about marketing.

“Made in the USA” tells you where it produced, but doesn’t convey any message about how it was made or the quality. It can be any machine process or assembly line. The guy who flips hamburgers for a living might run that machine.

“Handcrafted” conveys a certain level of craftsmanship, made by hand by actual people.

For what it’s worth, AE does claim that they sell shoes “Made in the USA.”

End of story.
I don't work in marketing; it may be that the marketing people at Allen Edmonds think that "Handcrafted in PW" will attract more buyers than "Made in the USA." Maybe. A certain subset of consumers love the idea of knowing exactly where their stuff comes from. "Made in the USA" say nothing about quality? I think most consumers assume that made in the USA products are better quality than their Asian and Central American made counterparts.

Certainly better labour and environmental standards than China.

Hi all Allen Edmond Connoisseurs, i’m planning to buy a pair of boots because the sales is too good to pass up. I’m hoping if y’all could advise me on the shoe size? Because I haven’t got a clue about the shoe last.

This is the pair of boots i’m interested in:

My foot length is 25.8 to 26cm. I normally wear a size Euro size (Tricker’s) 42 to 42.5 depending on the shoe last and I fit in most regular width shoes.
Can some one with more experience in Allen Edmond shoe sizing and knowledge in leather quality advise on the shoe size - and if the boots are well made and worth the money for the leather quality? It says its using recycled materials and biodegradable toe box. Is that bad?? Thank you and much appreciate it.

I think the leather is the same type they use on the Hamilton. That leather is quite nice.

I'm not at all sure about the biodegradable bits and I'm not sure on the shoe sizing. I'll allow someone else to opine on that.

I need a pair of boots that will be good for hunting, working outside, etc. Doesn't have to be AE although that's obviously where I'll look first. Suggestions?
