My first post on the forum! I'm excited about the upcoming trunk show. Thinking natty shell strand on a commando sole!

I'm going to suggest you reconsider a dress shoe with a commando sole. Why would you want a half-brogued oxford, which is a formal shoe, with a boot sole? It seems like it would really make the shoe clunky and ugly. Also, the natural shell might be a bit light.

If you want something a bit more rugged, why not double JR in say, chili or dark brown? Or if you need rubber, why not dainite?

I don't know, man, the Strand with a commando would look really discordant to me.

Too bad reverse welt isn't an option this time. I think a natty shell Strandmok with the XL sole sounds pretty sweet. I don't think I'd get one, but it'd be cool to see.

I hear you! I'm still debating. My second choice would be a double JR sole (super comfortable, I love my shell Cambridges for this reason). In terms of formality, I have pretty much every formal option in AE I need at the moment, so I want to push the envelope a bit. Commando sole would fit my style, I think I'll like the look. I've even resoled a pair of Birkenstock Arizonas with a vibram kletterlift soles! ?

Nevertheless, I'll be visiting my nearby store to work through a couple of options and decide there.

I don't know, man. Even with a stormwelt, I don't thnk the strand suits itself to an XL sole. It just doesn't work aesthetically for me to take what is a dress shoe and turn it into a rain boot.

I mean if you like it, go ahead. I personally think that kind of lug sole look would -maybe- work in like, a really clunky derby or blucher, if it isn't on a boot. And even then, I personally like my shoes to look like shoes, and my boots to look like boots.

That being said, boots can also have leather soles, but I mean, if I am going to go for a chunky sole, it's gotta be a boot for me.

To each their own, I suppose!

I think I would've agreed with you half a year ago, but the comfort and versatility of the hatch grain Strandmoks with XL sole really won me over. I love these guys, these and my other pair in brown were part of my rotation for quite a while.

For me personally, I think a style like this really speaks to the versatility of the Strand pattern. You can find a Strand to take a formal occasion, to a night out, or to a hike, and it'll look great in every situation.

Yep. I dare say we differ in taste, but I am glad they are comfortable. Also, I do love the strand - I think it's the best AE model - so more power to more strands!

Y’all know this is my favorite time of the year. What time? TRUNK SHOW TIME! Get ready! We’re lean and mean this year with a slightly more streamlined show, but we've included some seriously rare colors this year that should get even our most avid collectors excited ;)

■ WHERE AND WHEN:

• Orders can be placed in any store from October 29th- November 8th.

• The first leg of the show will kick off in LA, Michigan Ave, Madison Ave, Nashville, Dallas, and KOP. Each of those stores will have mixer events Friday October 29th.

• The second leg of the event will go live in Boston Newbury, Indianapolis, Denver, Tampa, DC City Center, and Scottsdale, where they’ll have their mixer event Friday November 5th.

• Although non “host” stores will not be having actual in store events or physical samples, they are all absolutely participating in this show! They will be armed with tons of reference photos and information, and are completely prepared to help you with anything you'd like.

• You do not have to order in person. You can call or email ANY store with your selections and participate remotely! SUPPORT your favorite store by reaching out early and letting them know you plan to participate! Many stores keep detailed notes about trunk show orders before the show to make sure the kickoff day goes as smoothly as possible.

• The mixers will officially begin in host stores at six, but they can begin keying in preorders starting the morning of 10/29/21. You might meet some like minded enthusiasts in your area!

■ COLORS AVAILABLE:
• Colors offered for this cordovan event will be: Brown, Black, Burgundy, Chili, and (DRUMROLL)...MARBLED BLACK and NATURAL.

• Natural is the great white whale all our customers beg us for every single year. At one point, per Horween...for everything thousand shells produced, only 10 to 20 of them were clear enough to reserve for Natural shell. Marbled black is a stunning wildcard that pulls green and brown as you shave the black shell down. Of all the marbled shell we've utilized, Marbled Black shell is the most unique in my opinion. And you know the best part? We’re considering both of our exciting additions unlimited currently. All colors are available to all stores.

■ STYLES AVAILABLE:
• Park Avenue $695
• Strand $695
• Randolph $695
• Higgins Mill $725
• Landon $725
• Freeport $725
• Park Sneaker $595

■ SOLES AVAILABLE: There is an attached chart listing all available soles for each model, along with the default sole. Please note that this chart also includes style numbers for each model as well as which models will be exclusive to stores/unavailable online.

■ EDGES AND WELTS: We will not be offering welt and edge ink changes this show. You can find the welt and edge colors assigned to each cordovan color in the chart attached.

■ OTHER KEY POINTS:
• The usual $120 special makeup fee is waived during this event
• All sales are final! No returns or exchanges, so be certain of your size beforehand.
• Natural shell and Marbled shell have a lot of variation, which is a characteristic of these colors that we embrace and do not consider a blemish.
• Please also note that there is no way we can honor requests regarding the extent to which a pair of shoes is marbled.
• We are not accepting out of size range makes at this time, and we aren’t accepting any customizations beyond what’s outlined here.
• We expect a quote time of around 8-12 weeks.

As always, I'm here to help you with any questions you have! Feel free to sound off below with any inquiries, but here is one for YOU: What will you be scooping up this Fall?

Lots of brilliant variation from shell to shell.

And look at these in the sunlight!

Yowza! What an announcement! Not the lineup I expected. No open laced shoes, lots of boots. Natural shell, even! If ever there was a time to offer a chukka! Alas. Would love natural Randolphs, if only they fit me at any size. That marbled black looks like a huge crapshoot. Probably best used on one of the boots. In fact, the two special shells are probably both best fitted for boots. This is going to be a tough choice.

Looking into options with the team. Will report back. We don't want the tag to be too bulky but I'm not sure they want to omit it either. I'll let you know what we land on.

I think I'm in for a natty Freeport if you can mask the tag here, so fingers crossed!

Thanks again for organizing another great TS for us!

The ones highlighted in yellow are only available through a store.
This chart? Do I can’t get a marbled Freeport, then? It’s not yellow, so I’m sure I’m missing something.

when you say through a store, you mean any representative, right? Or do you mean one of the in-person events?
Good clarification point…I wasn’t even thinking that.

You're overthinking it. They're all available! Work with any store by phone, by email or in-person to order.

There is no exclusivity to in-store events.

there is a marbled freeport on the far right...
