I'm with you on most of this. It does seem like AE is consolidating a lot of models to the 65. I wore my Badlands again today because the 5 last works so well in bluchers for me. Back in 2016/17, it did seem like AE was offering more new models on the 201. I've already mentioned this before, but the 201 fits almost identical to the 65 for me. I know this is not the case for a lot of people on here, which I find fascinating. I would love to see more options on the 201 because it's a last I can trust.

Also, be careful with left handed guitars. I hear that because most manufacturers do not create them frequently, they are often not made as well or need a lot of set-up done to them.

Thanks for the tip. I bought my lefty HD-28 new in ‘84 and my made in Nashville Eppi Casino this spring and both seem top notch. So they seemed to be paying attention those days.:-D

Sterling and McT are 201...Hamilton sure ain't! I love my Hammies specifically because they AREN'T 201 - they're 65.

If you're needing the extra vamp space of the 201, have you looked at the 42? Lots of volume there.
I'll check that last out, thanks, I know I've tried on a lot of their different shoes though. 201 has the widest toe box of the shoes that I tried, which is where I end up needing room the most.

Wore my brand new Broadstreets in navy and white that @ae_ashley got me.

It's taken a while for me to get a chance to wear these, but I love the feel and the look and I got several compliments and inquiries. We also ended up partying till 6 am, soooo---coincidence? I think not.

I mean, let's not overstate things here.

Allen Edmonds has expanded their business into sneakers. I still see a lot of dress shoes being made, and they aren't getting rid of most models, though the lack of a LWB is shittty with the death of the McNeil. Admittedly, there are like, a friggin' bazillion LWBs in the vintage market. It seems everytime I look for vintage shoes, the only things available are LWB. I don't need a 5th LWB.

the death of the MacNeil seems more problematic to forum members than the general population

I think it's cause the LWB is definitely an American staple for the last 50 years. It was really popular in the 70s/80s and so forth.

Given how many men in shoe circles seem to really dig the LWB, I think it's odd that they didn't just keep it. But then again, Allen Edmonds has to consider the bottom line. I am sure if the McNeil was selling, it'd not have been discontinued.

I can’t wait to see what the 100th anniversary will bring…MacNeil in every color of the shell rainbow and spectators galore in every possible color combination and last. Sorry - daydreaming there for a minute.
Oh yeah, and no more Strands, ‘cause @BFT9000 doesn’t have any more storage space.
