I've been out of the loop for some time, but I visited the AE site today to look at redrafting options and lo and behold I see that they now sell boot trees. Does anyone here own any? Thoughts/impressions?

Bought a pair during the recent sale for my Pattons. I like them, but I have found that the spring loaded front portion doesn't fill the toebox up the way the sized AE trees that I normally use did (the boots are 9.5E). If the boot gets soaking wet next Winter, I probably will use one of the sized pairs for the drying process.

Not that know of. I'm only aware of the chili, walnut, black, and bourbon. The bourbon was a webgem. The Palm Drive was the first version of the shoe, but I never saw a grain version of that either.

bummer... thanks for knowing though. i'll stop searching. :(

Im not a fan of PTBs or the Leeds, but this looks good to me
Thanks! I happen to love PTBs and chukkas, although the Leeds works less well for my feet than the Alden and Carmina renditions (it rides a little high on my ankles). Still, feel lucky to have gotten a pair in green shell thanks to Ashley a while back.

Have seen some references to the Kenilworth today, which was my favorite AE model, once upon a time. In fact, in an alternate life I was also known as Captain Kenilworth (not because I’m from New Jersey. Because I’m not. I’m from TX.)

The Xlite soles seem to only be used on AE's crappy made-in-Dominican Republic shoes. Plus, aren't those soles just glued on? The Nomad if it was made in the US with shell would probably not use the XL.

The Nomad and Williamsburg are pretty similar shoes, so I'd say they both could pull it off. Chukkas look nice in shell.

While XLite soles are glued on, they are glued onto a midsole that is Goodyear welted. It’s not inferior construction.

Question for the weasels. I’m looking at groom suits soon for my California DTLA wedding and thinking about the following:

blue/light navy suit
contrasting waistcoat
dark blue bow tie (prob with some pattern)

for shoes, was thinking burgundy for something different but open to ideas. any thoughts on style/color? (AE or other)

Took me long enough to finally take better photos. But it's time for some blatant glamourizing here. Set up my Landsharks for a nice op before taking them out for their maiden voyage. Obligatory shout out to @ae_ashley in thanks for making this opportunity possible! I really hope we see more MTOs or Trunk Shows involving exotic materials. The shark along with the special mixed media design really make these feel special.

And off we go! Donned my sharkskin trousers, of course. Seemed appropriate.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to take care of shark shoes...

Then it should definitely be an option for those who like it.

How have you liked the XL sole in terms of comfort and traction?

So question about ae shark: where does Ae get its shark skins? I'm not an environmentalist or a tree-hugger, but I also like to be conscientious. @ae_ashley can you hook me up with some details for future ae shark purchases?
