It has the style number listed as 2402, which scares me. That could mean the 222. If it is that last, you might want to rethink it.
@VeritasAequitas McClain was on the 8 last (there was no 222 back then). That 2402 seems to be positioned where production codes would have been back when that style was produced. Typically the style number would be printed below the size, which on this pair is blank. Style # for this pair should have been 3878.

Edited: Since AE used to make their samples in size 9D it's also possible this was a sample pair, possibly produced before they decided this model would go to production, and so before they ever decided on a style #.

Does anyone have any pairs with the olive Dainite soles, like the nubuck Strandmok? I'm curious how versatile they would be. Do they scream "green soles!" or are they fairly muted? Would they clash when wearing a burgundy tie?

Need help with some sole protector options on my landsharks.

I love double JR, but I chew through toes on leather, even JR. I usually put a toe plate on leather soles, but I don’t want to do that with this boot. Usually, a thicker rubber doesn’t get chewed at the toe, and even v-tread is great for me. However, the cheap Goodyear sole protectors don’t work for me—they get eaten at the toe the same as leather.

I need something that matches the boot well, has decent grip, but isn’t massively thick like the huge commando soles—lightweight! Any suggestion?

They are very muted.

I personally don’t think that they would clash at all. The only people to see the green sole are going to be behind you. Unless you’re a mutant and you’re knees hinge the wrong way, no one will see your tie and soles at the same time. ;)

GTO cross-hatch at 3mm (with matching toplifts if needed), might work for you. The only downside is not all cobblers carry it. Allen from Cobblers Plus suggested stitched-on GTO cross-hatch black for my wife's Frye motorcycle style boots because she too wears out the toes but hates toe taps. He also does glue-on for the same which he often recommends for new shoes and boots.

Just curious, what's the hesitance around plates? It seems like the ideal solution for your requirements since it won't affect the aesthetics or feel of the double leather while ensuring that you don't burn through the toes.

I want this boot (without the shark) and it's currently on sale. I love that damn color.

The olive soles look good on anything brown or green.
