Nice! You beat me to the punch with @madhat on those 1776’s. Although, the man was good to me on a couple others.
He's been a fantastic help with all things shoes, and especially generous with the second-hand sales.

I’m still planning on moving along my Ridgeways, green shell Strands, green shell Rancourt loafers (@Rithrin would be a better fit for them I think), and possibly my navy HMs after the Shark Attack. ;p
Oh, man, you already know I'm going to say yes to those loafers!

I like the burgundy.
What would you wear a black/burgundy boot with? I'm going for Black/Black because I can't imagine where I would wear the burgundy ones.

Can anyone provide real world feedback from actual ownership and wear of these models:
(Feedback on the AE website can be unreliable because it is not from informed aficionados on SF)
  • What do you like or not like about them?
  • Why would you advise someone to get them (or not get them)?
I wear a 10D in 511 (wilbert) and 9.5E in 65 (PA/5A/Strand) so I am not sure what might work in the 201 and/or 42 last. The McTavish seems interesting due to the waxed suede but I do like the captoe of the Woodrow more than the wing.

McTavish Oxford Wingtip Waxed Suede Dress Shoe - 201 Last
(and I am also interested in the black Horween® Dublin leather one as well)

The front of the boot will be burgundy. That’s the main part that will be seen.

Burgundy is one of the most versatile colors you can wear. It looks good with tan and khaki, for example, and black by itself normally would not. It’s not as formal as black, so I feel like it would be easier to wear with less dressy clothing,

Black is such a formal color, I have a harder time imagining how it would be worn.

I wear stuff like that with cords, chinos, flannels, and tweeds. I’m kinda partial to wearing burg with my burgundy cords, but greens, blues, greys, and browns would work great.
I’ve only got one pair of jeans, and I’m currently wearing with Bowerys while I apply aircraft stripper to a set of poorly painted wheels I bought off eBay.

My black shell HMs feel more casual, due to pattern, but it can be tricky. I wear them with burgundy cords, green-blue flannels, charcoal chinos, and occasionally my green chinos.

I know you were really just playing on words, but I can keep it thread focused.

Going gold because I’m a fan of gold, and it’ll go great with a white car. Considered powder coating, but I’m concerned about ruining the forge of the aluminum, so they’ll just be painted.

Does the lower heat of a powder coat bake oven really impact the aluminum?

Powder coating is at 400F. I’ve seen talks that aluminum can start changing at ~250-300F. I’ve seen reports of guys with wheels cracking a week out of coating. The way the aluminum is heated/cooled apparently can affect results. Seems to usually be ok for street use, but I don’t want to compromise the wheels in case I ever get to a track with it.

Thanks to @ae_ashley for these splendid navy blue shell cordovan Dundees.

Not only are the shoes themselves absolutely stellar, but I loved my Allen Edmonds mask + shoe horn + but the two shoe bags. The extra special attention to these small things shows a real consideration on Ashley's part. I am impressed and pleased!

I know who I am calling up going forward for all my orders!
