As for shoes, I brought black PA sneakers, navy Courtsides, sage Neumoks, brown Elys, and navy Elys. The Elys were relegated to beach duty, and were off more than on. Here are some photos of the others:

The best meal was a dinner for two at night at the top of a working lighthouse! This is the only place in the world (unless you are a lighthouse keeper) that you can do this! (There is a place in Maine, but it is not a functioning lighthouse). There is only one couple allowed at a time and the server traverses the 117 steps for each and every course! We loved the California Lighthouse!

Sorry to hear about the Charleston store. But I'm happy to hear about your new position. Time for some wingtip Wednesday.

I hate to say this, but the news didn't surprise me at all. Not a gambling man but I would wager that around this time, next year, factory 2nds are only available via the online (i.e. no more outlets left standing).
This is almost certainly true

When you log on to the forum and see that there are a ton of new pages added since you last checked earlier in the day, you know that something really good or really bad happened. Not that anyone needs to hear my thoughts on things, but I'll share later in the day, once I've had some time to process things a little better.

In the meantime, it's still Wingtip Wednesday and I broke out the blue Cronmoks, which always sounded like they should have been a character's name on the Flintstones or something. It's very caveman-ish.

Team Charleston Tribute, Episode 2.

During the very first trunk show I couldn’t make up my mind for the longest. Then when I finally tried calling Charleston, the number I had had been changed but the website hadn’t been updated. I finally got the right number and left a message, in the chaos, the message fell through the cracks and the order window closed. Understand, this was somewhere between 99.44% and 100.0% my fault. I still got a nice follow up call.

3-4 weeks later Ashley calls with news she had recovered from The Abyss a few Wolverine x AE 1,000 Milers in unlined shell and a couple were close to my size. Gave me first pick and held the other in case the first size didn’t work. Fantastic boots. Still bloom like crazy.

Truly exceptional custom service. She didn’t have to do that.

Very nice! I also was able to purchase a pair of those but was a little late to the game and purchased a half size down from what I really needed. That pair has since left the stable since they were really just too small. Great boots though.

Team Charleston Tribute No. 3

Jason is great. He walked me through my trunk show order for the snuff suede Macneil.

So during a follow up phone call I mentioned my wife and I were heading to Charleston several months later for our anniversary. A few days later I receive a five page, single space mother-of-all-travel guides e-mail he wrote up for me and my wife, tailored to where in town we are staying. Incredible tips on where to eat, what to see, places and things many tourist guides may not mention. It was/is amazing. Since then whenever I make some suggestion on what to do or where to eat, my wife will say, "hmmm ... I don't know. What does Jason say?" She calls it "Jason's List." She insist we both have electronic and paper versions for the trip. The man clearly loves his city as much as his job and that's a lot.

The "several months later" trip is next week. My wife insists we swing by the store one day (as if I needed coaxing) to thank him personally. Top notch employees tend to land on their feet. I wish all of them the very best of luck.

Still processing the news on Charleston. I was late to the game in meeting and working with them, before that my exclusive interface with AE was their website and Nordstrom. The Charleston team help me transition from Enthusiast to Evangelist. My first orders from them had several issues (TS 2019.2) and I never had a single concern about resolution given all the friendly communication and follow up.

Antique Cherry FA today, some of the first I worked with Ashley on.

I purchased my first pair of Allen Edmonds from the Charlston store in 2015, a BB Warwick in dark chili. At the time, I remember seeing this exact pair of shell Wolverine's on the shelf (same size, at least!). That was the first and last time I have been to Charleston, SC.
