So it is considered wrong or offensive if I call the Strand, Jefferson, University or Cambridge a "balmoral"?
It is! So is calling a derby a blucher *cough* Alden *cough*. But, no more offensive than when people shorten my name down to Wes. I accept and move on...
I would love some true balmoral options from AE though.

Now, the blasphemy that is a "blucher oxford" that is actually a derby is grounds for a shank'n.

Uh oh, here we go. Could mean the Cheetah, or perhaps, maybe a new Strand sneaker? This definitely surprised me.

And yeah, the shell face mask -- probably not a good idea in reality. I would pass out.

Looks like the Streaker is incoming.

As mentioned before in another post, is a wholecut then a balmoral?

I see several distinctions in athletic and casualwear shoes:

Sneaker: A broad definition for any shoe that is not a dress shoe
Tennis Shoe: An athletic shoe for playing sports or running
Trainer: Regional variant of Tennis Shoe (often used outside the USA)
Rubber Shoe: Regional variant of Tennis Shoe (often used in Southeast Asia)
Dress Sneaker: Sneakers that are NOT Tennis Shoes

So a tennis shoe is to a sneaker like what a Balmoral is to an Oxford. Unlike what a Blucher is to a Derby, which is more like what a tennis shoe is to a dress sneaker?

Sounds pretty clear to me.

Question: Would that be a metal or wooden shankin?

Wood. Don't want to give Alden the satisfaction of using a steel shank, and I honestly prefer the higher flexibility and lightness of AE. #hottake

You are in a judgment free zone, brother.
Greetings gents, sorry to interrupt the TS20.2 discussion.

A little coffee talk with @tcbinnc this morning. Thanks for meeting up again @tcbinnc it was great seeing you again! (Yes we were wearing masks for this photo as we were too close to observe social distancing guidelines.)

Clockwise from the top: @tcbinnc, AEFaninTampa’s dad, and @AEfaninTampa.

Dad is adjusting the tightness of his Maritimes before committing to trimming the laces. ;)

After coffee, I headed into downtown Raleigh to browse the goods at Ealdwine Raleigh (https://www.ealdwineraleigh.com). Thanks for the hospitality @jpm1 it was a pleasure meeting you and exploring the store. Appreciate the Alden education. What a great selection of menswear: Alden, Ashland Leather, Frank Clegg, Mizzen + Main, Chup, Pantherella, and others. If you are looking for shell tab belts in colors other than AE offers, you should check them out!

I picked up a new Alden horsehair brush(those things are beefy!) and an Ashland natural CXL valet tray.

And of course, had to take the patented @jpm1 photo from the mirror.

Happy Friday eve and back to your regularly scheduled trunk-sneaker show discussion...

Patiently waiting on the shell color options to be revealed...

I just assumed that was @jpm1 's closet at home. Seriously.

The boots on that table in the first shot ... wow. Can I please have one of everything?

I know the Boardwalk was maligned as a Nordstrom Rack model, but I have to say, I love these. I picked them up for $130 on eBay for near-new condition. They soaked up the Renovateur and Alden waxed laces were a big improvement on the stock laces. Aside from some loose grain on the vamp, the construction and materials seems on par with my Strandmoks, same 65 last.

They have the same colours as the brown Strandmok, with an orange-gold under the brown. The patina should be interesting. When I get them recrafted I will go with a natural welt and double leather soles.

Its interesting because @madhat posted a photo of his Boardwalks on November 23, 2019. I like his better, there is more contrast in the brogue/finish and his welt seems lighter. His insole looks darker than mine too.

Mine are actually bone, but with a layer of nuetral wax any spills or gunk come right off.
I have exactly the same Broadstreets. Walnut and bone I think? Never have polished them, but they are rarely worn. Neutral wax sounds like a good idea.

Are the snuff brown suede Patton’s really snuff? They look much darker - if anybody has pics that’d be great!
