My beloved Brooks Brothers/MacNeil 2.0. I love the clunky almond shape, Scotch grain, double leather soles and peculiar colour that is somewhere between brown and chili. The most comfortable dress shoes I’ve ever owned.

I'll have to wait to see exactly what y'all are offering....

Could be GREASY.... Could be DECENT. Hard to tell...

I’m going to withhold judgement until I can see the sneakers. A recraftable sneaker is pehrpas the same to me as a Nomad or featherwelt Neumok, and I love those! A recraftable sneaker sounds like a super casual GYW shoe. If it is executed properly, I am open to it!

Technically cemented shoes are recraftable if a cobbler is halfway competent. Have they stated explicitly that they're GYW?

That’s a valid point. I am going to assume that they are stitched somehow. My best guess is that they are really just featherwelts. Cement a sneaker sole onto a midsole and stitch that to a welt.

Sneakers, I mean real sneakers. Not a sneaker-looking shoe
Sneakers...real sneakers...you spent HOW much on a pair of sneakers??? Chucks are like half the price of those!
I get it. You don't want to see change, but it's happening either way. You spending nearly $100 on sneakers is just as insane to people as AE selling sneakers is for you. No reason to be a Debbie Downer (on multiple threads) until you've at least seen the product.

I think AE should come up with a different name for a recraftable sneaker. Nothing makes my skin crawl more than chinos and sneakers. When they changed the name to khakis I was right in. Maybe if they were called weekenders I would be more interested at this point.

I think that's a very valid point; perception based on existing naming can heavily affect how people react. Not calling them sneakers is definitely a way to soften the blow. Marketing guys can do some impressive perception turns... Bleeding Madras anyone?
Though visually, whether they're called sneaker it Weekender, I think you will need to wear the RIGHT chino (tapered, probably rolled cuffs) to not have dissonance.

But at the end of the day, why can't the casual people enjoy shell as well? Are we being elitest forcing them to buy welted dress shoes if they want to appreciate shell?

But that’s the thing... these may be welted. Let’s see what they are. They could be Nomads with sneaker upper—that’s my thought

Yes, elitist is the direction I am headed.

This is exactly how I feel about so called "turkey bacon"

It's not terrible and if they called it "turkey strips" I could eat it. However, calling it "turkey bacon" makes me compare it to bacon so instead of being satisfied eating turkey strips I feel like I'm eating crappy imitation bacon

This! And don't get me going on soy milk, almond milk or any other juice sold under the milk name.

Point well taken, and I apologize.
