Lol. Good story. Seems you too have shoe stories to recall...albeit some more fond than others. ? You know, I could be wrong but just anecdotally, I think shoes could be the article most recalled as a childhood memory associated with a parent. Or at least high up on the list!
Hmmm. Maybe? My dad wasn't too much into shoes, actually. I did always get a kick out of his vietnam era army boots but I don't think he ever conditioned them even once and the leather was in bad shape even as far back as my memory goes. Pretty sure they hit the trash after he broke his ankle trying to shovel snow with them in his late 60s or 70s. The soles were hard as a rock with little if any tread so I'm not too surprised. I think for me... in this type of realm, I think maybe it was more shaving / after shave kinda stuff (even though my Dad isn't a traditional shaver). Or perhaps ties.
