These haven't been worn in over a year, maybe 2. I think the last wear was a couple of years ago in the DR on vacation. View attachment 1394413 They have been in storage bags with trees all that time. Perfect for going to son's house this afternoon and goofing off around the pool. Sea Islands, blue suede. Not the fanciest AE, but fitting for the purpose
Still a good looking shoe. Did you go up a size?

Just received these new Sheltons from eBay. Anyone have an idea on the date on these? Really pleased with the condition.

Normally am an 8.5, these are 9D's as that's what they had in stock when @Thomas Crown and I visited the AE store at the Pfister hotel in Milwaukee, so I took the 9D's and they fit fine, little heel slip, but because of the seam on the heel, that's a good thing as otherwise they would make a blister.

Made the mistake of wearing some relatively new (read not broken in) shell Randolphs without socks. In my defense, I was in a hurry and just threw something on.

I am paying for it today. My big toes and heels are all cut up.

Whoa!
The things we do for love of shell.

Big fan of that shoe, big anti-fan of AE’s limited run practice (no narrow widths) for many of its loafers.

I understand that, even though I'm a solid D width. AE at one time was the company with the most widths, sadly, no longer.

AE’s dark brown shell is one of the eight wonders of the world!

I buffed up these brown shell Patriots, even though they did not, by any objective measure, need maintenance. Just enjoyed gazing into the brown void.

@smfdoc ’s beloved Collonil 1909 Creme de Luxe colourless/natural is magic elixir. Also, it smells great. Thinking of swapping it in place of my normal after shave

@wasmisterfu compiled a nice summary of the Polo/Shelton models on the vintage thread. Short answer, your pair are made after 1999. Read the entire post here.

I feel your pain. I once wore a brand new pair of canvas sneakers, also sans socks, on a trip to Spain. There was a lengthy layover until my flight to Valencia so I decided to tour the Prado museum. Do you know how Large that museum is? OMG, I was hobbling by the end of it!
