Nice hijack - and boots!Haven't been checking in here as often lately as I'm camped out at home for a spell (like many others) and have been branching out to try a few other mfrs of late. Wanted to take advantage of the moose mention though as I just took delivery of this pair of moose boots. Thought I'd share a few pics:
Like every other retailer, they need every penny possible coming in right now. They can't afford to postpone until some uncertain future date.I think this is pretty accurate.
It might have been better to postpone the sale so that the brick & mortar stores were open.
I was really looking for some that actually experienced wearing both soles and were willing to compare and post. I'm in the shoe business and curious about such things. But, thanks for your comments anyway.....Bearing in mind I have nowhere near the level of expertise or greatness as yourself (hence I couldn't tell if you were making a sarcastic joke or not) I will post an honest answer.
I looked at a bunch of styles that used the extralite dimpled outsole (or whatever they call it) in the store. Did not try anything on because I would need a 7D and that would be like finding a white elephant in my backyard. At any rate, to me it appeared as though they they replaced the standard danite with something like the foam outsoles used on Toms but with little circle indents to make it look like Danite. They felt feather lightweight like they would offer little to no support and would be worn down in a month if worn more than once in a blue moon.
In my experience, AE has strictly enforced something like a 7-10 business day price adjustment window. I could have that wrong, but I do recall it being very short. If you're a day late you're out. Never did this with the CaC though - good luck with that. Like the smashtv guy said, you'll need it.I stupidly jumped the gun and purchased a pair of AE Strandmoks in Denim (blue) in the very early morning of April 7th (~3am). I paid $14.95 for expedited delivery for no particular good reason. Shoes arrived today. I’m happy with the shoes, but not happy that the price dropped $100 less than 24 hours after I made the purchase and before the shoes arrived. Does anyone know if AE is willing to do price adjustments in cases like this? I just messaged them through their website regarding the situation. A store credit/AE gift card would be fine. I had planned on buying at least another couple of pairs of shoes anyway during the Anniversary Sale.
So with other sales I've seen popping up - Quoddy, Trickers, Viberg, Meermin, GS and even Alden sporadically being included in some stores percentage off across the board, for the first time i think i disagree with you. Based on the anniversary sale magazine, it's clear they at least think they can afford to do whatever they normally do and would rather "mechanically" go through a sale in April with plans they made far in advance rather than make adjustments.Like every other retailer, they need every penny possible coming in right now. They can't afford to postpone until some uncertain future date.
I heard rumors that if your pair comes from an outlet, they have to parachute ashley in with a space suit, helmet and gloves to retrieve it for you but haven't gotten confirmation on that yet.If all the stores are closed, how do you place an order and how does it get shipped? From the Shoebank. Do you see where I am going?
So why would they just be half assing the sale. If AE is not flexible enough to change stuff to make the sale better, then they deserve what they get. Before they closed the stores, they should have found a way to sell what they have at best possible margins. I know a lot of guys want to see $200 shoes, but what good is barely clearing a profit?Like every other retailer, they need every penny possible coming in right now. They can't afford to postpone until some uncertain future date.
Well, if it's 7 to 10 business days, I should be okay. I checked the time/date on the original order and on the acknowledgement of the message requesting a cost adjustment. It was 71 hours, almost to the minute, so less than 3 days. I'll let you know once I find out. They are asking for 3 business days to reply due to the current situation (COVID-19). I'll hold off on wearing them until I hear back. I could always return them and just be out the $14.95 shipping. Don't know if I'll bother to do that, but it would certainly impact my decision to buy more shoes during the sale.In my experience, AE has strictly enforced something like a 7-10 business day price adjustment window. I could have that wrong, but I do recall it being very short. If you're a day late you're out. Never did this with the CaC though - good luck with that. Like the smashtv guy said, you'll need it.
I’m not trying to single you out or pick on you or anything. But as a physician seeing people wearing gloves are in town, it’s a pet peeve of mine. The reasoning behind it is because I watched a video where a guy washed his hands several times after holding graphite rock, and there were still small particles even after multiple washes. He didn't say wear gloves, but he said try not to touch surfaces if you can.
The gloves I wear are disposable ones that I do not reuse. I also use a Lysol disinfectant wipe on my gloves when I go out (and on the steering wheel). I know plastic gloves are not a perfect solution, but I believe the combination with the Lysol wipes, it's better than using bare hands.
