Speaking of dyes...I have some Walnut carlyles I got cheap on eBay. They don't seem to hold a shine super well and the toes seems to be much much softer and less structured to the touch than my other lyles which doesn't help in keeping them sharp.....so one has to ask. Should I dye them a crazy color to have something unique?
I did these last year, in support of my Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Does ae use oak bark tanned leather out soles on their calf skin park ave shoes?
Also does any one know if ae uses full Jr stacked leather heels on their shell cordovan shoes?

since I clearly have no self-control and am obviously not going to stop buying shoes I need to learn to set more modest/realistic goals

Going to not get addicted to crack this year
Seriously! I was thinking maybe a couple pair this year and I’m sitting at 5 right now. On the bright side, I’ve checked off most items on my wish list. Only things left right now (unless there are more surprises this year) are something chili shell, that blue strandmok, and if I find something interesting second hand.

Of course, the above statements have a shelf life of about a day ;)

Wearing snuff suede Neumoks today and confirming what many of us think, the suede Allen-Edmonds uses now is a billion times better looking than the suede they used to use.

For fans of food pictures in shoe threads, champagne, a chicken panini, and me at Traxx in the Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal. Can now confirm the online reviews of Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut are correct. It is very good. As a point of reference, usually drink Mumm Napa Cuvee M, so I do have rather Edwardian tastes in champagne. If you have 21st CEntury tastes you may not like either of them.

On the other side of Alameda Street, is this what shell cordovan in the wild looks like if it's bronzed like some people do with baby shoes?

When I saw the bone doc Monday, she opined that the fractures in my ankle were possibly old and healed, and that the pain was actually being caused by gout. She told me that gout is caused by an excess of uric acid in the blood that tends to precipitate out in a crystalline form and attach itself to joints, especially those with bones that have nice fractures to nestle into (disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, and I never took any college-level A&P - or any other biology-related - courses, so this description may be wildly inaccurate. But it's the gist).

In any case, I believe she was correct; a blood test showed that my uric acid level is at the high end of normal, and a week of babying (and occasionally icing) the ankle, keeping it elevated, wearing the compression boot, and taking extra-strength tylenol several times a day has worked wonders: I'm once again able to put my full weight on that foot (and even stand one-legged on that leg) without pain, the swelling has pretty much completely gone, and I'm able to wear normal footwear again.

In celebration of which, I put on my trusty Higgies to go out for lunch earlier:

I suffer from gout, and it sucks. Glad you're feeling better!
