So, on a whim (and since on sale), I picked up the park sneakers in chili calf and chili shell. The calf are lighter in color and weight. They’re also tighter to the point of considering a size up from my normal 65 last size of 11 3E. The shell are darker and more rich in color. They’re a little more roomy, have a little more substance/feel to them, and fit like I would expect my 65 last shoes fit in my 11 3E size. Really nice. The construction quality on my initial pass is pretty darn good and the insole they have is really comfortable. I don’t think I’ll keep the calf version, especially playing around with the shell version, but trying to determine if the shell are worth the coin for me to keep. I do like them. Here’s a photo and you can see how the shell (top) are slightly wider across the ball of the foot area. Both are 11 3E. Sorry for the image quality. Poor lighting and it is dark out.

Off topic. Non AE footwear.

I was considering the new chestnut Higgins and wondered how it might look with burgundy laces.
You have answered my curiosity and they look great (yes, I know yours are shell and not cxl).

Shell?

I think so. Also, since when was the Bradley discontinued?? Somehow I missed this.

Dark Chili has been a stock color for some time. Cigar is only currently available in the Strand and Leeds which may mean it is being tested for a larger rollout and will become a stock color some time in the future or disappear forever. Cigar is brown-er with a patina effect. Chili is red-er with no patina.

So, how much do you really like each color? Ultimately, you are going to wear them so choose what you like.

I think it's worth clarifying, given that "red-er" is a comparative term, that chili is indeed "red-er" than cigar, but is not "red-er" than it is brown. The photos of it do indeed often look more red than brown, but every pair that I've seen in person has looked like a solidly brown shoe. It's a reddish shade of brown, sure, but it's not a brownish shade of red.

That actually could be you. There is a vision perception problem that many men have with red and brown such that some see a specific shade described as being really almost maroon as brown, but most men and almost all women see it as more red. Chili is a brownish red. Color 4 is a reddish brown

I spy something new and blue! I ordered both of these beauties on September 24th, then they hung out at the Indy AE shop for a while and finally they have arrived at their forever home. The suede Strandmoks will earn their laces after taking their Super Invulner shower. Both pairs turned out amazing. Natural light photos coming soon!

Leeds (2.0) for $100--dang. Man I really do not need another pair of shoes.

Not sure how I missed that one. I have heard the 2.0 runs narrower than the standard Leeds.

I also find it interesting that all these "old" shoes keep popping up that have not been there before.
