Xpost from Alden thread.

Gents, need some advice. Just got this pair of Alden shell boots in the mail from eBay. After examining, I found what I think is the upper starting to separate from the welt on the outside of the foot, near the arch of my foot.

What I can't tell is if it's torn shell or it just needs to be rewelted and good to go. Unless you stretch the leather, you can't see what I've taken a photo of. It's not a critical point of stretching, but I certainly don't want torn leather. However, if it's just loose welt threads I'd wear them until they got worse then resole.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can see what I think is the gemming, but I honestly don't see any torn leather or where the welt would attach to the upper... @Nick V.

Really? I clearly see it

I thought it was just the end of the cordovan. I think I see now where a stitch may have been... Hidden under the wingtip portion of the leather.

It is supposed to be raining. So I switched up to the BB Suede MacNeil. Nothing fuddy duddy about these.

Hey guys, longtime lurker, new member here! Thought I’d show off some boots!

Haven’t seen these here yet, my Higgins Mill weatherproof boots with sole swap to commando. All Higgins can have commando put on them by going through your SA! Don’t overlook these boots gentlemen, they are awesome and only need a bit of conditioner and brushing.

Thanks for the likes guys, it’s appreciated! One more shot of the Sullivan’s (almost 1 year old) with boring office floor:

That is a boot that I really liked but the intersection point of my interest vs my price point never intersected.

It’s a great boot which AE should bring back! Can’t believe they discontinued it as it really stood out in their collection.
If AE did their boots with the Comando sole standard and Dainite as an option, I would have a lot more boots. My 1A on the Comando just surpasses anything that I have on Dainite. By a mile.

Amen to this! Dainite is the main reason I don't own more AE boots (and to be fair, other brands that use it as well)
