Guys, chili shell cordovan looks incredible. The color is amazing, better even than the photos shown off during the show. This pair fits me perfectly, just like the pair in shaved shell, and the craftsmanship is fantastic. The welt/edge and stitching on this pair are some of the best I've ever received.

Only noticeable flaw is that there's a pretty big uneven ridge on the toe caps. Other than that, they're impeccable. Not going to affect me from keeping these but I'm wondering what you fellow weasels think about these.

Maybe it is the angle, but the stitching on the welt around the toe would drive me crazy. it looks way off. It looks all kinds of wacky and would means seconds pricing at a minimum, and I am extremely accepting of flaws.

Tuesday. Brown CXL Higgins Mills with new darker green LL Bean five pocket cords, Lands’ End chambray shirt and donegal lambswool sweater, AE Central Ave belt, Schott NYC tweed car coat.

Also, I bought a pair of boots today. Hoping I like them because they cost me a pretty penny.

This whole top 5 pairs with photos idea is fantastic, such great inspiration. Gotta put one together soon, too.

In the meantime, second wearing of my midnight navy Strands. Please ignore the oversized V-gap, my Fifth Aves were the same way for a few wears before closing up nicely.

I love that car coat. After you posted it last year I went looking. I never found it. Any ideas for sourcing it?

Did a search. This was all I could find
That's all I found as well, thought a 1K thread might be buried under a different name, and someone might know. Guess it doesn't matter as we know what they are, and who makes the shell version :)

I don’t know what shop makes those but I have a pair of reverse tobacco chamois indys from AoSF on neocork and they are great. I like that makeup you posted there too, what shop are they from? Too similar to what I have to get them but I like the brass.

The 43 is kind of like they took the 333 and chopped it down to Brannock length. It's one of AE's shortest lasts, in contrast to the 333, which was the longest I knew of in recent years. I prefer the 65 over the 43, because the 43 has a wider heel and waist. I prefer the 333 for the same reason. But I fit well into all three of these lasts, although they are wildly different.

Thanks for the detailed write up. So you do not take the same size in all 3 lasts?

Makes me so proud to see these waxed pairs showing up!
Whoops, I think I confused a couple pairs.

Enjoying the top 5 work here, wading in with my own AE top 5,
but that is absurd considering my daily 40 way tie for first!

In no particular order, here are 5 well-loved pairs!

Bradley thirds.
The AE ecosystem provides occasional gems. These were under $150 from our favorite ebayer.
1283607

Liverpool Seconds.
Ready to walk out in 15 seconds and comfortable all day!
1283612

Natty First Avenues.
From TS 2014 (old shell footwear really does keep getting better)
1283610

Austerity chili Daltons.
Groundbreaking pair that led to extreme collecting.
1283613

A "representative" Higgins (shaved).
Could be Shark, Loden or any shell color...
Since HMs fit me so well, I have severely overstocked on them.

Being honest, my single favorite AE model, ever (as defined by real purchases).

Thoughts on this suit? Thinking it would looks good with my navy FS's whenever they come in...

I wanted it but 38R sold out before I got a chance to snag it. :(

In fairness it's probably for the best; i'd likely only wear it once or twice a year, tops. Might be one in suitreview's updates soon, or possibly the outlet in the spring though, so all is not entirely lost. Worst case I just have one MTM via Alton Lane since they can get their hands on *ANYTHING*.
