After clarifying with AE the nature of the damage to my shell wallet, and some wonderful interaction with the customer liaison for the brand, the wallet will be replaced.
AE stood behind their product and I remain a committed customer.
I understand that misunderstandings can happen, and it is refreshing to see that a customer care team can recognize that and work to find a positive solution.

Oh, and there will be a shell Trunk Show in September.

Can anyone tell me about the AE Boardwalk (longwing derby)? I've been on the lookout for a black leather longwing, and when a new-in-box pair of these presented themselves on the popular auction site, I made a lowball offer that was accepted. As per the photo, here is the info under the tongue:

4401 5A

Am I to understand these were built on the #3 last?

Photos are kind of crappy, but here are a few...

The wide forefoot and tapered toe looks more like a 7 to me, but the 3 isn’t dissimilar in that regard. Weird... this is model I didn’t know existed; store special?

Shoebank states the current version is made on the 65. However, as you know, sometimes they change lasts over the years on the same model. I agree that it does kind of look more like 108 or something similar.
