Found some Rafael’s that are “worn and refinished” at NR today. As far as I can tell, someone just finished the soles in black (they are the original underneath.)

I know people don’t love these, but for $117 I’m giving them a shot. They’re 1/2 size down so a little narrow, will try on carpet at home first

What is the sole material? For a NST, they don't look horrible, heck I would wear them, don't understand why people here don't like them, unless they are a DR of Italy product?

Leather, I’m fairly sure. I think they hate they got us they’re the Italy line. So it might be a cemented shoe. Like said above, for $117 it’s a different story

At full price and this is where the comparison came from, a Grant Stone is a better deal. A NST from GS would be more balanced, if you like that sort of thing, and a GYW. This shoe is a calf and leather sole cement construction with a Blake stitch. To be quite honest if the shoe came from a company like Ace Marks, it would be marketed as a Blake stitched shoe. At $117, I find this shoe to to quite acceptable.

Well, I can't argue with the GS is a better deal, owning pretty much all of the GS catalog :) But for $117, it's still a good deal.

You all that live close to the shoebank outlets are so lucky. I imagine the treasure that could found behind the shelves. I'm very jealous and feel I'm missing out.
I feel like I live the proper distance away. 90 minutes on a Sunday morning. Far enough that I am not there monthly but close enough to take a few trips a year.
