Well, received some brand new first quality black shell McNeil’s.

I am now seriously worried.

The pinking is effed up on both shoes. I tried to stay positive, but have now fallen victim to the QC issues as well. *sigh

Looks like they need a sharper pinking machine, or a more skilled operator. I don't really know if this a machine or a manual thing, but either way it isn't right for a 1st.

Less old shell? If there are no issues on the rare colors, it would point to old dried out shell.

Spinning the classics today, at
least to me.

2013 Bourbon, which lost it’s burnishing a while ago but I kept up the polishing with Saphir’s medium brown. It’s a nice shade, but I just don’t reach for them all that often.

PSA for Bills Khakis fans, Winter sale items are 70% off -- Bills product at 70% discount is a bargain!

*If you are a gambler and will risk your size selling out, then put some full price items into your cart. Wait a few days for a 10% discount code, then a few more days for a 15% code, then a few more days for a 20% code!

Looks bad, would return if firsts. Glad none of my items have any pinking.

Is that what they use? I really don't know, my wife has Pinking shears for her sewing room. I would think some kind of machine did it in a shoe factory. But whatever, it should be clean, not ragged.
The cutting edge of the tool, whether small hand held shears or large fully automated shearing machine, is obviously not sharp. How hard can it be to spot and fix this issue?

It all depends on quality consistency, right?
That's part of the consumer value proposition - does the perceived quality and prestige of the product equate to what you are willing to pay.

AE top quality is worth the price... but when it isn’t consistent....not worth it
