They are closing. That was why I ordered from them, 20% off. I'll try to get this sorted out in the morning.

Is it 20% off everything or just whatever is left at the store?

I think this has less to do with centralization than that particular store. Haven't there been a lot of complaints about it here and isn't it on the chopping block?

I was just being silly, not serious. It’s true dedication the ends you went to to make those things fit. And the story is hilarious about the rubber bands etc...the things workers do sometimes are head scratchers.

Not knowing any better...I have used up a tin of AE saddle soap.

I have used it on CXL, calf, leather and Dublin. Total of maybe 10 pairs. Generally when things are looking pretty rough and moist wiping is not sufficient.

Clean gently then VSC/Bick4 = condition. I do not have 1 pair that has seen saddle soap twice, but SS has seemed like a "reboot" when a pair has seen some very rough wear. A fresh start, like a new pair o boots. Hope my kicks don't eventually dissolve.

Have not read the whole saddle soap rap, is it short or long term damage I should worry about?

Another in your long list of Gems! Love these!

With regard to Saddle Soap, using it like you have is fine. I have found that although there may be some better things to use, SS used appropriately and conditioning after is acceptable for me. I have shoes over 30 years old that have seen SS without issue.

    ^^^^^
    +1

I've been using it since I was knee high to a grasshopper, took care of Dad's shoes...not by choice :), I'm 55 now. Never have had a problem with any of my shoes. Follow the earlier advice, don't deep scrub, and like all other shoe products, use sparingly. Remove all of it once done, and condition afterwards.

This thread moves fast, so apologies if this duplicates, but a lot of folks here have bought from this guy on ebay. He's often referred to as "our favorite seller" and has some direct connection to AE. He can be pretty reasonable on offers, and seems to have nice, well-described stuff.

As I sit here first in line at Franklin, I'm getting text messages from the chain of command that someone got shot trying to rush the gate this morning. Glad I'm in $TEXAS today.

It's dark, so I'll grab a photo of the daltons later once the sun is up.
