I should add, looking at this flyer I received,it says “save up to $200 off of MSRP” and shows Lake Forest,Carlyle, and Independence coll. each marked down $200 off retail but the Liverpools MSRP is $445 and they’re advertised for sale at $195–($250 off) typo?—I’m holding them to it! Uhh I just bought seconds... there’s no way that could be a first price
Must be $200 seconds and $250 firsts. Even if that’s the case I think the extra $50 would be worth first quality

NO!! It is too early for that kind of a sale. I am doomed.

Ordered Thursday boots over the weekend, arrived just now.
Summary; I am *likely* keeping these but won't recommend them.

First off, they look okay, the suede is rougher/cheaper than any AE I own. I kind of love the color dark olive.

They feel less substantial than any AE I own. Insole feels a bit like a sponge.
For $200 delivered? They are disposable. Would not keep except I love the dark olive color. They are what everyone says. Don't bother.

I'm one of the fools who paid full retail for the Liverpools when they came out...I wanted them that badly. And I've not been disappointed at all. I got them in black, which I find to be the most classic look as well as very versatile. At $195, whoever is leaning in the slightest should jump on these before they go away.

For those of you with shell Daltons, did it take a long time for the shaft portion of the boot to break in? Asking for a friend.
I'd say yes, because I've had mine for about a year now, but the reality is I've worn my shell Daltons probably around a couple dozen times.

Edit to add, I have no issues with the shell HM from the GMTO. Those had no discomfort from stiffness from the get-go. Probably because they're not as tall as the Daltons. I tend to reach for other options over my Daltons.

Thanks for the honest review. I do like the color and do like the terracotta color as well. I've always put off getting them and it appears it will stay that way.

Posts like this make me believe that I've been bitten by the brown grain bug and will probably head in that direction after getting the shell Strands. If you could only do one brown grain boot, which would you choose?

Sullivan Street
First Avenue

I know the First Avenue can only be found on rare occasions since it was discontinued, so I'm leaning more towards the Sullivan Street. Anybody have both? Which do you like more and why?

I don't have any personal experience with the First Aves, but I am extremely happy with the Sullivan Streets. Every pic I see of the First Aves looks great, especially @St Hubbins pair for some reason. I'm a fan of the faux toe cap on the Sullivans and find it just a little more visually interesting overall, but I think you have to take a few style points away for it not being a "real" Galway.

However, if you have the brown grain bug (man that sounds like a terrible time in the tropics) the Sullivan feels mostly like a brown burnished boot with a hidden grain surprise.

Please enlighten me on the sole - is it a white version of the Henry XL (Tates)? Or, is it more crepe like? Or, is it like the wedge soles on the later Eagles and Cove Drives, etc? Also, 42 last? The idea of a buck piqued my interest, assuming the construction is up to my standards.

Thank you for your review - I've seen a lot of ads and have not been brave enough to consider.

Totally agree! (assuming 1943 works for you) Admittedly, I purchased mine for $149 and $249, but I love all three.

Haha! Definitely not any Oscar Meyer lunch meats 'round these.

Yes 42 last. I went down 1/2 size from usual. Here are pics of sole.
