Natty shell shoe Appreciation.

Those are spectacular.

It’s probably a good thing that when the trunk show was going on, I didn’t yet comprehend the sublimity of natural shell. Otherwise I would still be paying off the credit card balance. But on the other hand.... DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT!!

Was on shoebank site and for some reason the blue suede Boone is looking really good to me. I’ve never had a blue suede and other than acting out an Elvis song, I’m thinking they might be a limited wear summer only shoe. Anyone here have a pair of blue suede casual shoes?

I have blue suede Dundees - love them, and wear with cords and chinos year-round.

Trunk shows are amazing.
Some posters will buy like 6+ pairs to catch up, some will agonize over just the right pair.
But if it comes, bite the bullet and pick up something you love.

And, don't gamble.

I bought bottle green Leeds but they wear as black except in bright lighting. Have not put many wears on them, maybe that will change but they are not my favorites, would honestly rather have a third Natty variant.

Staying in shell mode for awhile, going with 08 Leeds tomorrow.
Made to be even more casual with contrast stitching in welt.

The natural shell Leeds were a no brainer alternative to the Dundee since I had 2 already.

Why the spoiler?

I'm pretty sure a lot of that color is sitting on top of the shell. The AE cream seems to have some penetration, but I'm pretty sure it contains gum arabic and that keeps a good deal of pigment "stuck" on the surface even after brushing and buffing. Should you want to go back you should be able to strip most of that off with some Lexol. Then you can use VSC to give them a bit of shine without color.

I really appreciate this response. Wearing them in sunlight, I can see a bit of the pigment on top, in spots. I barely dabbed the cloth and really dig the quick, more serious shine.

But when the VSC comes in, I am going this route, as suggested by @Shoenut and your post. As well, gonna listen to @M635Guy and condition less often.

The Leeds have been conditioned less often & never used creme.

Thanks much guys!
