I e-mailed my local retail store and got confirmation that I can get the price adjustment on my Higgins Mills. And there was much rejoicing.

This will pretty much green light pair number nine... number nine... number nine... oh, sorry. Anyway. I just need to decide what. Brown Overlord firsts, Walnut First Ave seconds, Snuff Suede Dundees and Navy Strandmoks are the top contenders with the Overlord probably having the slight edge currently.

Nine?

My World Elite Mastercard offers price protection for 120 days from the date of purchase. I believe many credit cards offer some level of protection, but most consumers never think of this. I'd advise you to look into whether your credit card offers price protection (assuming you charged the purchase).
You so smart!!!

Brilliant you just put $40 in my pocket.

I used Discover and seems they have 90 days so submitting claim today.

Edit in process just need to fill out some form provide proof and they send me $40.

Hi all. Just got a pair of Higgins Mills last week. Notice the heal, seems to be some issues. Is this normal? Thanks!

Is that actually small gaps I see between the sole and the heel?

Yes. Can't notice unless it's a close up shot. I just noticed it myself. They are factory 2nds BTW. The uppers look to me in perfect condition. Wondering if it affect the boot. Thanks!

Well my HM is on the way so I don't have one to compare. But I have had in the past other Dainite boots and they did not have any gap.

I just had to send my Hillfires in do to both heels falling off on the third wear.

I also just picked up a used Normandy from eBay that actually looked real good and then on second wear I noticed the heel coming off.

So I guess what I am saying is maybe someone that works at AE lately is not installing heels so good.

I assume that is or has some glue to hold it in place and looks like they did not apply enough. But I really don't know as I never seen how they put the boots together just theorizing here.

Again not sure but if i remember the Dainite is also nailed on from the inside so maybe you are good just put on some heel dressing.

But before you do that wait to see what others say it could be something someone has exp with.

Thanks. I edited my previous post. They are factory 2nds and the uppers look to be in perfect condition. I wore them once. Still a lot of salt on the ground from the snow and don't want to wear them again yet.

I can return them to the AE Store and get a new pair. They are $300 new now. I paid $210 for the factory 2nds. If the heal is going to affect the boot I would prefer to get a new pair and return the factory 2nds. If they won't affect the boot I'll keep them and save $90.

Edit they are now $250 / $100 off sale. But they have to order my size which is a 7.5.

You can also get another second too also the seconds are now 199.

Other choice kinda a hassle for a new boot but you can send them to AE they will eval them and either replace the whole boots or repair.

Really it's a boot IMO you don't need a first a seconds is all that is needed save your money for another shoe.

Yea the heals don't bother me as long as they won't affect the boot. Plus I don't want to wait 4 weeks for AE to make me a 7.5.

Just got a pair of Alumnus (Alumni?) from our favorite eBay seller. Ordered the same size as my HM, which are a great fit. Wow, I'm swimming these bad boys. Didn't think there'd be that much of a difference between the two lasts, but there is in this case. Completely laced shut with dress socks on, and there's still room to spare. Length feels right, it's just way too much volume overall. I think I'm going to have to return these and go get fitted in this last at AE. Maybe I just got a bum pair that was lasted incorrectly. Was not expecting this at all.

If the license plate frame/back window sticker of nearly every college graduate in the US is to be believed, "Alumni" apparently can be singular or plural, and "Alumnus" isn't a word anymore.

I would have figured someone with a 4-year degree would know the difference, but apparently English isn't taught anymore.
