I can't speak for the HM because I got my Indy prior but...man the Indy is awesome. I got another Indy in natty cxl on the way in March-May (looking at you Leffot). Having said that, I almost wish the HM existed before I got my 1000 Mile...

Are the Indys you currently have the brown CXL? Or calf?

I've never been a big plain toe boot kinda guy, although I will say the Higgins Mill is as close to getting me change that as anything I've come across.

Incidentally, where did you get your first pair of Indys? I know it's not easy to find them on sale but I feel like there are some every now and the from retailers selling them as third party items.

If you are thinking of the Overlord I would jump on it first's they have like 3 sizes left, seconds are going, and there are not many on eBay so now is the time.

Unless you are a size 7 or 11 I think that is all that is left in Overlord firsts, you will have to grab seconds. I would just grab the Overlord in a second it's a distressed leather so I never see the diff between a good second and a first.

I'm having a pair of firsts in my size brought in to my local retail store from another store. Also, still waiting to hear from my "seconds guy" about his quest to find me a good pair. Got an option A and option B... maybe not in that order.

My size is gone everywhere now. They had them on the bank yesterday. The best Ebay seller has a pair one size up from my normal size that I will probably try and keep on the lookout for others.

I also have 3 local Ebay stores around DC and Reston that I'm going to check with.

Hey, it's Mr Off-Topic Guy... back again after a hiatus. I'm (probably quite foolishly) now interested in acquiring a tweed sport coat. I'm blaming the cold weather or maybe just my self-diagnosed mildish OCD. For those of you that own them, it seems like I might run the risk of getting myself into another apparel addiction. Is it as dangerous as I fear it might be?

Since I've got this crippling shoe habit, I was probably just going to patrol eBay until something comes along that I'd feel semi-comfortable taking a risk on. Are there any reliable sellers of such items that can be recommended? Any pitfalls or tips that I should be aware of? I've yet to make a foray into purchasing second-hand clothing on eBay.

Mine just had a pair of Melissa Tab boots in Redwood delivered today. The quality is top notch and they are a gorgeous womens boot. Luckily everything I have is either made in USA or decent Mexican quality so I have not had the pleasure of encountering the Chinese crap yet. I reach for my AE more often but the Fryes have their place.

Picture of the wife's newest boot.
That's pretty nice! I might order one for my better half.
Have you ever taken a look at Pikolinos for your wife? Mine is a big fan.

Check out LuxeSwap, @SpooPoker . He's always got amazing stuff, and his own thread here on SF.

These are some of his past auctions searching "tweed":

Hugely dangerous. I encourage you not to go visit Epaulet. I encourage you to NOT experience their awesome customer service and to utterly reject their awesome wares...

Check the measurements closely, as compared to a jacket that fits you well. If you can find one that fits without alterations, you'll save not only money, but the risk that it's too worn to safely alter.

Getting back on topic -- AE boots. There are so many good options to think about. What do you think, Bama or Clemson?

I think my call is I will have a pair of brown Overlords headed my way sometime this week probably lol. The pics of yours have made me decide to bite the bullet and get them.

Glad I tempted at least 2 or 3 forum members to pick up the Overlord. The dark side of the force is strong. If they fit you, you won't regret it.

Many of the regulars on SF started out in this thread before Venturing out into Carmina, C&J and clothing avenues. Check out Kent Wang for a tweed RTw or MTM jacket. You also cannot go wrong with Luxeswap for an affordable EBay jacket if you figure out what fits you. Both are SF affiliates and good people.

Both of my cats are cheering for their Clemson Tigers tonight, but the dogs and I want Bama to win.
It's a zoo here tonight.
At least my Cronmoks keep me grounded.
