Trying to refrain from jumping on the HM (out of my size on the main site, but at least as of this morning there were seconds available).

I've been thinking about getting some Alden Indy boots in the not so distant future, so I feel like these may be redundant (and eat into the Indy fund).

You FBWs are all terrible enablers though!

I've got 3 pairs of Frye boots. A pair of Phillip Chukkas in cognac, a beefroll penny in what appears to be natural CXL and MiUSA natural CXL Walter lace ups which are pretty much identical to Alden Indy boots.

Decent quality, but nothing impressive. The Walters are great boots.
I have the 3 I posted above plus 2 pair of boots, 2 LWB James oxfords, 2 loafers a PTB and a Navy suede Carter Chukka that I love. My wife has 4 different pairs of Melissa boots, Erin oxfords, James oxfords, Melissa oxfords and 3 different flats plus a suede oxford I don't remember the model. I like my Fryes but I agree they aren't the most amazing anymore. Since they were sold and a lot of manufacturing moved to Mexico it's just not the same on the newer stuff. AE makes up the bulk of my shoes and I really have a soft spot for them.

I really like those Fryes. They look similar to C&J shoes and AE doesn't offer anything currently that looks like those. I think the Overlord is different enough, but that's your call.
I think my call is I will have a pair of brown Overlords headed my way sometime this week probably lol. The pics of yours have made me decide to bite the bullet and get them.

Their Mexico stuff isn't that bad, wait til you pick up their Chinese made boots... pure crap. The leather is like cardboard. Definitely trending in the wrong direction.

Their riding boots are great for women if you can find them < $200. My wife has the Phillip riding boot and the leather is extremely buttery, she also loves their flats. We got my MIL a pair of their MiUSA ****-kickers that seem to be very well made.

I e-mailed my local retail store and got confirmation that I can get the price adjustment on my Higgins Mills. And there was much rejoicing.

This will pretty much green light pair number nine... number nine... number nine... oh, sorry. Anyway. I just need to decide what. Brown Overlord firsts, Walnut First Ave seconds, Snuff Suede Dundees and Navy Strandmoks are the top contenders with the Overlord probably having the slight edge currently.

I can't speak for the HM because I got my Indy prior but...man the Indy is awesome. I got another Indy in natty cxl on the way in March-May (looking at you Leffot). Having said that, I almost wish the HM existed before I got my 1000 Mile...

Lol I'm still confused. What is a JM? I'm sorry if i'm missing something.

My bad, I typed JM (Johnston and Murphy) instead of Frye. I always get them mixed, go ahead and kill me now before the senility gets worse.

Mine just had a pair of Melissa Tab boots in Redwood delivered today. The quality is top notch and they are a gorgeous womens boot. Luckily everything I have is either made in USA or decent Mexican quality so I have not had the pleasure of encountering the Chinese crap yet. I reach for my AE more often but the Fryes have their place.

Picture of the wife's newest boot.

Lol it's ok. I have a few pair of Johnstons that get worn on crap days. Say I need to wear a suit but it is raining. I grab the black Melton's instead of the Park Aves. I hate myself the whole time they're on my feet but I try to take care of my AE's. I do have some suede wingtips I like on nasty days but I don't wear them often. Actually wearing a Johnston&Murphy Chelsea boot today because of the snow and salt and muddy areas. They work because I don't care if they get messed up but the leather is terrible and the lining feels like plastic. The saving grace is the waterproof XC4 sole :)

The terrible Chelseas today. They feel sooo cheap. David Bitton jeans, Brooks Brothers shirt and Ralph Lauren V neck sweater help me feel better about the shoddy footwear today though.

If you are thinking of the Overlord I would jump on it first's they have like 3 sizes left, seconds are going, and there are not many on eBay so now is the time.

I e-mailed my local retail store and got confirmation that I can get the price adjustment on my Higgins Mills. And there was much rejoicing.

Unless you are a size 7 or 11 I think that is all that is left in Overlord firsts, you will have to grab seconds. I would just grab the Overlord in a second it's a distressed leather so I never see the diff between a good second and a first.
