Those MTO Higgins Mills turned out really nice.

I've learned a lot from this forum but so far, I haven't found a reliable AE SA here in SoCal. It's actually frustrating.
Being an AE fan, I always recommend it with friends and I've converted quite a lot. Sadly when I see them wearing the shoes, 6 out of 10 the sizing is off. Instead of giving the right size like 9.5e, for example, they were given a 10d because they don't bother to order them the right pair.

Do u mind sharing ur SA info via PM? I really want to get another shell before the sale ends

I'm sorry to hear about your shell problem. I'm sending you a PM now, since I also live in Socal.

I would love an actual SA, but closest AE store is over 2 hour drive, so I pretty much have to order online. Got to get sized a couple of years ago by master fitter when in Milwaukee, so have been going with that, but would like someone I can deal with directly. Good luck in your SA search.

My closest store is 2.5 hours but I always call Charleston lately to handle orders (including firsts)

@orange fury saw your reply to my post about tux. My apologies if that came across as rude, because I agree with the thought that you should dress how you’re comfortable.

Where’s your cruise headed? What ship?

No worries, sorry if I seemed touchy when responding, I’m a little overly defensive after some responses on the other forum about the choice of cruise line. We’re on the Freedom, 7 days to Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel.

I had time to get out of the house to put a few steps on the Bradleys to start the process of breaking them in.

Farmer's Market and errands today in my recently-shampood MD Chukkas:

It's crazy, but they got better after shampoo treatment. The toe puff is less visible and softer, and the suede has a bit more character. A year ago I would have laughed at a chukka, but now I'm up to three pair (choco and snuff MD, and a tan pair from Alden). Extremely comfortable.

It’s official. I have a problem. The Higgins Mills have become that new favorite pair that I can’t stop wearing...especially now that that Fall is well underway.

Today I have them out and about during a “get some s*** done” session at the nearby Starbucks...

The Higgins Mill was one of AE's better decisions in a long time. Those are great!

We went on quite a few Carnival cruises and had a great time. IMO, the only problems with Carnival are on the shorter cruises.

I’m sure you’ll have a great time. We did that trip (with Grand Cayman added) for our honeymoon and one year anniversary on the Legend.

For fans of "A-E In The Wild" and "Cords And Suede" pictures.......

......wearing tan suede Strandmok 0.0's while thinking this might look better with taupe suede Tate wingtips.

(Yes, there's a hole in my left jacket sleeve but I still wear the jacket even though there's a hole in the sleeve.)

Personally been on a ton of Celebrity cruises, 2 from Princess, and most recently tried my first Carnival. Nothing particularly wrong with the Carnival but it was way lower par than those other two. I would still recommend it though.

We’ve only done Carnival and Celebrity. There’s a big difference in experience but there’s also a big difference in price. With that said we were fortunate to get great deals on our celebrity cruises by using a travel agent.

Sorry, I grew up in a cave. Is this a sports reference? I don't watch sports.

Apparently no one thinks I'm funny except ace13x. But that doesn't stop me from trying.

Asking for a friend - I own two pairs of the Patriot in calf. Such a weird fitting shoe. The heel is snug and keeps you nice & secure, the toebox is actually really roomy. But damn, that vamp...if you're a high arch person, that will CRUSH you like nothing else. Is the shell any more forgiving (assuming you've ever tried the calf?)

If you ever get to do the Thailand/Vietnam one, HIGHLY recommend that.

Of course I'd recommend Kristen Grawehr of Paramus,NJ as the best SA, but unfortunately if you need to buy in-store this doesn't help you much.

I really want to do something unique, but our first child (boy who will one day wear Allen Edmonds) is due in 31 days, so that’s on hold for now. We completed a streak of five years with no less than 31 days of travel, and we’ve done at least one cruise every year since 2009. This was the first year we broke both of those.

I hear ya - understandable. I've done a LOT of traveling, but never made it to Sydney - always wanted to do that trip.
