Nice shoes and belt combo! I was planning to get a CXL belt, but heard it stretches quite a bit. Will sizing be a problem?
Thanks!
I'll say you might want to size down. This one is a 34 and as you can see I'm on the second to last hole. I'm thinking of finding someone to trim a bit off the end and maybe add one more hole.

I would just eat a doughnut. Problem solved.

Why am I not surprised that this is your stance on the matter? I'm generally in your camp on these types of questions. However, once in a while, I like to collect the opinions of others.

OK, I'll gently offer a mild dissenting view, despite my great respect for Roy's opinion.

Even though a brogued LWB is inherently less formal than an oxford stitchcap or punch cap, and therefore not favored by some for suits, it is still (IMHO) way more dressy than any five pocket pair of cords I've seen. That would seem especially true if in black (as are yours) and with a flat welt (as I believe the Magregor has). I think the formality gap is a bit too wide and would look discordant. But then, I think that about a lot of pairings I see posted here and the world seems to keep on spinning.

I would allow an exception for perhaps a LWB is some sort of rougher leather, e.g. Dublin, CXL, etc. and in a color other than black.

So there you have it. My opinion is worth what you paid for it. :colgate:

I see your point. I believe a MacNeil or Alumnus would be a better match with the 5-pocket variety of pants if you wanted to try that look, though obviously the latter is not a long wing. Who knows. I could end up hating it. I was just looking for a way to squeeze a little more use out of a pair of shoes that would have probably found their way to another owner if I had to do it all over again.

That being said, get ready to see some flat-welted suede Sanderson LWBs being unapologetically worn with 5-pocket cords pretty much all fall and winter by yours truly.
