1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Beautiful shoes.

I just got a pair of Bartletts with forgotten wheeling. Disappointing.

Sounds like the wheeling machine is broken....

Please share your thoughts! Thinking of acquiring a black/burgundy from the Shoe Bank and need some insight into the quality, fit, etc.

THANKS in advance and happy holidays!

Well I have worn the Normandy's a few times here are my thoughts:
Normandy = Big comfy slipper that you can wear as a boot.
Note to self, wife gets super pisssed if you wear Normandy as slippers in house remember they are boots for outside!

Also got a few days on the Liverpools and here are my thoughts:
Super nice boots, since slip on and you want them a bit snug at first, but molds to foot in a few days, also very comfy but not like a slipper, just super nice boots and love the easy on easy off.

How do you search for a style without choosing a size (or are you walking through all sizes, one at a time....)

Non-AE, but I received my Brooks Peal & Co crown slippers yesterday- love 'em, but I'm sending them back for an exchange because of bald spots on the velvet. Also expecting Brooks tartan slippers to come in tomorrow.

Those bourbon Daltons are calling my name, especially since I have a $75 visa gift card that's burning a hole in my pocket. May wait to see if AE re-releases the football grain loafer though, or I may hold off to see if they do the March Madness custom Neumok again...

    Today I'm being festive:

I'm very envious that you can order pairs online. I'm about to start getting pants from tailorstore (unless I find another place for pants) MTM because while I expect hemming to be needed particularly for suit pants, I have not been able to find any that work without needing the waist brought in, tapering after the knee, and in some cases the seat. Makes ebay about the only place I care to get some pants to balance out cost of getting them altered.

Sorry, haven't figured out how to search for multiple sizes simultaneously. I just went through the "D" widths in all the sizes, one by one.

OK - I thought maybe there was some "top secret" search technique. Thanks

That would be very helpful if Shoebank had a way to search all sizes of a style.

+1 for San "Antone" - I'm in central Texas (barely the hill country), but north of SA. Seen some great shows at Majestic Theatre. Catch a Spurs game whenever possible. Spent some college years in San Mucos, but that's as far south as I've lived.

Agree - Shakers are usually reserved for jeans... though the pants above are basically jeans due to the waxy texture and cut.

This group was responsible for several of the search feature additions on Shoebank. Maybe we can get another update in the future to include such a thing.

Just giving some love to the humble Long Branch. I've worn the hell out of these things the last two years and still looking new. The chromexcel needs almost no maintenance and they look great. I think I've had more compliments on these than any other shoes I own.

    Slow day today.

Mr Totally Indecisive Allen Edmonds Shoe Enthusiast Guy here. Anyone out there with the suede Saukville who cares to share pics and/or opinions of the model? To me, the only discernible difference between them and the Long Branch is the material from which they are made. True? The clearance price is quite tasty, but I'm wondering how the suede might perform versus the leathers of the Long Branch during the bad weather. They sure do look awfully nice on the website, though

Had to share this, found it funny. So today I'm in a sweatshirt, gray jeans, decent shoes. Couple co-workers, "what is this, dress down day?" *eyes go to my shoes* "oh never mind, just kidding."

To give some background, that same outfit would have been my black tie outfit (joking, but not by much) about 18 months ago. Since I've gone to more button ups/down, sweaters, chino/trousers I guess more people took notice than I thought.

The joke part comes from my co workers in pull over hoodies and ripped up jeans asking if it was a dress down day...

Mr. TIAESEG, if you are set on an AE boot: I'd grab the LB [if you go with cxl, scoop some neatsfoot (will darken slightly) or Bick4 (should maintain the same color)], kick Chi-Town winter's ass and don't look back. Seconds are only $40 more than the clearance Sauk.

When you're ready for your next purchase... say around the end of January... you can slide into a suede Dundee.

Personally I think this might cover your bases a little more strategically while also giving you decent winter protection.

I emailed CAC but thought I'd ask here too: I bought some Lexingtons a couple years ago and have worn a small hole through the leather covering the plastic (celastic?) heel cup. Can any cobbler fix this or does it need to go back to AE for repairs?
    Thanks for any help.

I'd be concerned that it wouldn't be eligible for recrafting if AE didn't do it. How are the soles/heels? FWIW, I had both heel linings replaced on an old pair of J&M's and I think they charged me $30 or $35. If you're close to heels and that repair would be covered in AE's refurb, I'd consider going that direction...
