There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Went down the Internet rabbit hole and ended up on an askandy thread from 2009 where someone posted pics of the "new models" upcoming at that time.

This kind of looks like a Vernon on the Cornwallis last. Love it, don't think it ever made it into production?

Right on, they increased the price very recently and it was almost across the board for most of Peal & Co. line. I got these for approx. $500 during a sale event as well. Fit wise, I take 10E in strands/daltons and 10D in these feels very comfy.

Yeah their filter doesn't always work.
Depth of color on shell is what got me into Shell at first last year. Earlier I used to scoff at the comments in this thread about shell being addictive and all but not anymore. Out of my last 7 shoe purchases since then 5 have been shell, 1 calf and 1 suede. After my first shell pair (brown Strands), Calf leather never felt same.

I can believe it. Even the small difference from the regular AE to the independence line is a jump. At least in my collection.

The quality of any cordovan I've seen in the wild is palpable. It really is a great looking leather, beyond the toughness. I wonder if the fact that it's so hard to dye is why it ends up with such an organic quality. I didn't understand at first, but looking how shoes wear, and seeing everyone's pictures here, you can see how you'll get an extra resole out of it, too. That gentle roll instead of an ever deepening crease is something. Maybe the toughness is not enough to pay twice as much for shoes, but add the durability to the look...

Hi all, with the new NJ outlet opening soon I was wondering if they run some kind of grand opening sale. Or would it just be whatever the current seconds sale is nationally?

Just ordered a University in walnut and a Boone in sand. Waited until the last day of the sale, but have wanted the University for awhile. And who doesn't need a buck right before summer?

What's the color on that? How's the fit compared to the 65 last?

I have not worn the Promontory Point boots all that much, but when I do, they get abused. They have a Dainite sole on them stock, which I like just fine - just not the greatest traction in snow and ice.

I was wondering if these creases and wrinkles are normal/accepted for the inside quarter of my bleeckers:

Hi all, I posted this in the main forum but figured this might be a better place. If there is another place where it should go let me know, any advice would be appreciated:

I am going to be adding some AE to my rotation and wanted to know what you guys think would be the best options. At my job I always wear suits, so that's what whatever I get will primarily be worn for. Right now I have Park Avenues in Black and Bourbon and Bellevue Chukkas (for casual). I was thinking about maybe going with the strand and/or Mcallister or university wingtips, any advice on which colors I should add and in which styles? For colors, I was thinking of a walnut and a burgundy option, but it doesn't appear that burgundy is available for most styles anymore. Also, I was looking into the dress boots, like the first avenue and dalton. Can these be pulled off with a suit? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Took my friend (aka my kid brother) to the outlet for a long visit. Pretty disastrous - I gave him credit for trying on so much and I couldn't disagree with many of his comments, but my conclusion was what I already knew - the 65 is crap. I was convinced he needed wide width and the roominess of the 201 - wildly wrong. He tried on many sizes in the 65 and settled in 8D, but is planning to return what he got (McAllister). Shows me too well - don't assume anything. When he said the Clifton in an 8D was the best he tried, I put 2 and 2 together and even though I never would have recommended it, I had him try an 8.5E san Marco and it fit really well. So on the one hand, I'm out the restocking fee but at least I know the approximate size now. I found one of those chestnut 6th aves over the weekend which he said was also better. AE is doing this thing where they are cutting back on inventory and refusing to carry a lot of non-standard stuff to avoid so much back and forth shipping costs. That's all fine, but loading up on 65 stuff isn't the best strategy. They had nothing on the 511 which I think is the most standard last. Oh well - I think they lost a potentially good customer.

Gave me an excuse to break out my brown crackle mctavish to match my mood.

My SA told me it was a flaw in the design and very common for anyone that doesn't completely fill up the vamp. Mine were very light until I got caught in a major rain storm. They've never quite been the same since - though someone mistook them (in person) for shell once and complemented me on the rolls.

Edit: Sorry, @vmss . I misread your post (re: inside quarters). That is some pretty heavy wrinkling, though it likely wouldn't bother me, as most would not ever see it. Are these 2nds? New? New to you?

They look more than normal, though I wouldn't worry much as that part is mostly hidden under trousers. Moreover, these creases shouldn't be as visible once your foot is in the shoe...or so I think

I agree, it does not look like you are filling up the vamp. I have some similar vamp creasing on my Gobis as they are a little too big for my feet. It's much more prominent on my left foot, which is about a 1/4 size smaller than my right.
