Hey Lobster thanks for the response again.

Here are the fit pictures of the supposedly 7.5 E compared to the original 7.5 D that I returned:

They came bar laced out of the box so somebody might have tried them on before.

New 7.5 E but labelled 7.5 D on the tongue:

Those both look the same size to me. I'd expect the v-gap to be much smaller on the 7.5E than the 7.5D. That's one man's opinion.

Not always. I have a similar issue in that I have a high instep so I never get a small v-gap, even with well-fitting shoes. If I close the gap then the rest of the fitting for the shoe gets screwed up.

I agree with @St Hubbins , they look to be the same size. The V-gap should be less if they are 7.5E unless your foot grew in the interim. They just mistakenly put 7.5D shoes in a 7.5E box, or conversely mislabeled the box 7.5E after the shoes were already in there.

Regardless, call them first, tell them you order 7.5E, got shoes labeled 7.5D, and they fit the same as the pair you sent back. They should send you a return label, wave any restock fee, (if there was any to begin with), and send you the correct pair.

Even if they are actually 7.5E mislabeled 7.5D, you should get a pair with the proper size marked in the shoe in case you decide you want to sell them down the road.

EDIT: While I'm at it, are you sure you wouldn't fit better in an 8? Did you ever try an 8D or 8E?

I don't recall paying but yes essentially that's it. Should be a usps label. I used the box they sent them to me in.

I was in the Michigan Ave store in Chicago yesterday picking up a pair of the Higgins Mill in Brown (so sexy) and I asked the SA about merlot. He said they're basically discontinuing it. Didn't have it in stores and that it now it might be available as a webgem at some point. He seemed a little sad that he had to tell me this until I told I had made sure to pick up a pair of Burnished Merlot McAllisters at the recent sale :)

Here is the not so famous wedge heal novel Union. It's definitely different. I know lots of ambivalence over this shoe but here's a second opinion. Very cheap feeling sole, but wow are they comfortable to wear. The brown burnishing is on point, the shoe is reminiscent of a Cole Haan but much better made. It may not be a $250 shoe but it will be on clearance at some point. I figured I would at least see them in person, what's to lose? At least there are no regrets later. :)

I agree with the others that it looks about the same. If it feels like the first one did (you described it feeling quite tight), I would definitely exchange for an 7.5 E.

lol Tex. You already have both Unions. [IMG]

Honestly, the colors look great. I imagine both those would look great with a single leather or double leather sole. When it comes time to recraft, the shoe will look awesome.

They are as comfy as a tennis shoe. The brown is amazing. I just had to see them. Anything that everyone hates I am going to at least see it to evaluate.

Thanks guys. I am actually heading down to the US next week so I will exchange it in store and I'll try the 8D to compare with 7.5E.

With today being unusually cool for August, I'm wearing these for only the 2nd time. Very comfortable shoes / boots, whatever these are.

I have previously said I was done buying shoes for the year, but there are burgundy shell Daltons on the Shoebank in my size. My chili calf Daltons are almost ready to be resoled, which I have been hesitating to do because the fit isn't perfect. The she'll Daltons in the Shoebank, in a smaller size in which I now order all of my shoes, may be worth grabbing, especially if I can order them through Palo Alto and can get a few bucks for my calf pair on eBay.
