Darn. Thanks for the info.
I think the shoebank usually does a big tent sale around mid June.
Big thanks to @MattRiv @jet-stream @ace13x and @gatszu for your advice!
So i'm back from lunch after walking around in the 6.5D and my right foot is really starting to feel uncomfortably constricted around the toes. The pressure seems to be from the top and side of my last toe.
I do have a 6.5E pair coming in from ebay any day now, so i'll definitely try that to see how they fit.
If not then i think the 7D would probably be the size for me.
I'll snap a pic of my 7EEE strands tonight to show you how big they are. I had to throw in a thick ortholite insole i had from on of my tennis shoes in order to get it to fit.
No there will a seconds sale again before fall, definitely in April along with the 1st quality Anniversary Sale, and there is always the summer tent sale too among others
@mykoh Another person with a smaller size than me, nice . The 65 last strikes again. That illustration was awesome - I've never seen anything as informative as that. From what I saw, I would agree with jet-stream that you're close to the end but I don't know if id go in in length, they might go from tight to way too long. I can tell you from a lot of experience, going from D to E makes a huge difference, you don't want some sloppy fit with bowing in the ankles when you walk. You'll feel like you're dragging the shoes around and your legs will get achy. Yet you said these really killed you which is not good. I'd try a 333 lasted shoe in a 6.5D if you can above anything else. Second choice would be a Carlyle in 7D. See how those work in comparison.
Another thought would be the 511 in 7D - shorter but with a fuller toe, might also work. I'm counting on you to keep me from spending too much money these next few months (I'm usually a 7D myself), so don't let me down.
@llamaone The best "sale" in terms of prices is usually the 2nds sale they have in June (?). The best in terms of coverage / variety is the rda in sep-oct. So you're fine.
My first AE shoe, a walnut Sanford.
is the anniversary sale in april?
Forgot to mention, I got these two years ago... I think I've bought more shoes than my wife since then! She's not very happy about that one.
I'm still of the opinion that you are using a shorter shoe to solve a width issue, which is what you can do if a manufacturer doesn't make the width you need. So you are too far forward in the shoe and having to open the width up in the forward part of the toe box to fit your pinky toes in, which makes the fit seem right, but your ankle is swimming in the back of the shoe.
Thanks for the great advice, jet. I might be a little apprehensive about trying to strip out the burnishing completely, so what are your thoughts on just using walnut polish alone? Probably wouldnt get them as "pure" as using the renomat with the polish, but maybe closer to walnut in general?
