    Navy Cornwallis' came in!

Stunningly beautiful shoes- the color is basically black indoors under normal lighting, but a true shade of navy outdoors. That said, you can tell when their next to a pair of black shoes that these are a different color, but no one would notice their not black without close inspection- point being, they can be worn very easily in more formal workplaces.

My only issue is that the shoe is tight across the top of the foot. I know when I tried the Cornwallis on, an 11D had too much heel slippage (I wear a 10.5D usually), so it might not have hurt for me to go up a width, but I think these will be better once broken in.

Verdict- AE needs to make this color a standard offering.

Sorry if this has been discussed already (tried searching), but what's up with the Sea Islands? Were they initially made in USA, but are now being produced in the Dominican Republic?

Are the Sea Islands available through the shoe bank likely to be USA or DR?

Love the look, but won't buy if they are not made in USA.

I am not sure about the ones currently sold by AE, but the olive suede I purchased from Nordstrom Rack are "handcrafted in the US". A forum member that also purchased from NR thought that they are from the original run the were made here in US.

Yes- the ones on SB, if I had to guess, are most likely DR. I was very surprised the ones at Nordstrom were US made

That's exactly the information I was looking for - appreciate the feedback. These will definitely get pushed far into my backlog - wasn't looking for more suede anyway (I wasn't looking for something quite so summery) and based on what you said, it sounds like these would fall into my too familiar realm of 7D is too short, 7.5D is too long. Coupled with the fact that I have to order and ship both to myself (meaning no stores will order in shoes for me anymore to try since they would lose too much money), I think I can pass on these for now.

Hope those Lubbocks work better than the Norwich - looking great!

This kind of goes back and forth a lot so I figured I'd at least attempt to clear things up (with sarcastic humor included of course). They came out with the Sea Island as a webgem I believe, made in the USA, for 295. They claim it didn't sell well so they moved the production to DR, and the re-release of it are DR-made. Basically, rather than sell a 295 made in the USA shoe, they have a 295 made in the DR shoe where they mickey mouse the price and put a "sale" on it to make it 195. Huge seller. I'm sure if it really went to 295 no one would touch this thing.

Anyway, as cc808314 confirmed, it is likely that the old 295 made in the USA versions found their way over to NR. As for shoebank - most of the sea islands listed are at 195 (nice of them to match the price of the 1sts, pretty generous). You'll also notice that some are 239 (including some of the old webgem colors). My guess is that those are made in the USA. Definitely not 100% on that, but that's my guess. The 195 ones on their are definitely DR.

Hope that clear things up a little.

Do those have the butyl sole, like the Daltons do? If so, I may order a snuff suede pair at $170 rather than keep fooling around looking for the right casual loafer/

They aren't as shiny as they look in that photo, but I did hit them with a tiny amount of Reno to darken them a tad. It took away the matte-finish, but now they have a kind of olive-skin look to them I like a lot.

I thought the left wing looked fine to me. The creasing is typical for a pair of shoes that have been tried on and walked on carpet. They would look the exact same way after you try them on. However, they will also look that way 6 months from now after use. Shell is remarkably resilient. The bidding starts at $399, but it will not end there.
