beater is the wrong word, I am just going to be using these more in all weathers outside of my office rotation.

When this sole wears out, I really want these on Dainite.

Is this your first pair of Independence line shoes? To each his own, but you may change your intended use after the first wear if this is your initial foray into Indy ... They are spectacular.

Totally agree, my fault for using the word beater.

This will be my fourth pair of the indys, amazing shoes for sure.

Does anyone know if the sole on the old school Indy was a more superior of a leather. I have the Jefferson 1.0 that wear like iron but also have the new Hopkinson that are wearing down at a faster pace.

That's a shame to hear; I love the strength of the soles on my Jeffersons and Rutledges; this may move me away from a pair of Bartletts into getting shell Strands.

Even taking into consideration the double sole the new Indy sole is different. I have the shell strands and MacNeil, the JR sole is the sole all leather soles should be measured by.

    Gents--

Any point in owning a Mora 2.0 in both bourbon and brown? Are they too similar? And if so, which would be the better call for a dress shoe given my lineup below?

Seeking some guidance on my next AE purchase. Here is current lineup:

    Black PA
    Black Fifth Avenue
    Black Long Branch
    Black Mora 2.0
    Walnut Strand
    Walnut Fifth Avenue
    Walnut Franciscan
    Dark Chili McAllisters
    Bourbon Strand

I would think Brown is a missing link here. Taking into consideration smfdoc's and others helpful advice, I'm going to check out the 201 line (Jeffersons specifically) in the next week.

Anyone care to recommend a pair for me to consider?

Perhaps a LWB for more casual outfits. Might I recommend the MacNeil in burgundy cordovan. Pebble grain brown MacNeils would look great, too.

I second a brown longwing (or shortwing) blucher. I'm not as big a fan of the Macneil's aesthetic as some on here, but the brown grain Player 2.0 (only on the shoebank) is a thing of beauty. I'd snatch one up if they had my size. Someone posted some pics a couple months ago on the old thread, can't remember who, but hey we're amazing.

I'd also throw in the Ralph Lauren Sanderson in brown, although also hard to find at not full price ($525).

AE Williams (Indy line, but no longer made) if you can find it is terrific too.

Speaking of shell MacNeils, here's a picture from today of my 'casual' pair in the wild:

This may have been posted before but Macy's is phasing out Allen Edmonds and a lot of their shoes are DRASTICALLY reduced at local stores. Some at more than 50% off. Just picked up a pair of suede Strands for $125.

Hey guys, I was hoping to get some sizing advice as I don't have an AE store to try shoes out where i'm living.

I have a pair of Strands in 7EEE and found they fit about a half size long. I have a pretty narrow foot but the width was comfortable. I stuck an extra insole in there and can wear it comfortably.
I recently bought Fifth Avenues and Weybridges in 6.5D and they are way too tight. The length is perfect though.

    Should i be buying a 7D instead? Or a 6.5EEE?

    Thanks in advance!

That is actually a pretty good BIN price. I have them and they are awesome. Buy your wife something at the same time you buy the boots. [IMG]

Just polished my Daltons for the first time.

Any tips on turning the first picture below into the second one?
