Gentlemen, I need your opinion on the fit of these. I am very new CXL, boat shoes and loafers, in general. The length seems correct, maybe just slightly short on the left foot. However, the leather doesn't seem to hug my feet very well. This is particularly evident on the left pair as it is sort of bulging out. My left foot is very flat with very low instep, which I think is pushing the sides out and is not completely filling the tongue area. Should I expect the leather to form to the shape of my feet overtime and sit better, or this will get worse wear? These are the clearance model, which I picked up for $57 and hate to let them go :)

    Any help is highly appreciated!

Ooof. Try European Bar Lacing and post another picture. I know you're on a quest with these, so I'm hoping that might help.

I think that helped. Your thoughts?

Also planning to wear my Cornwallis in dark chili to dinner so that's on my left. Do most people straight laced that style as well?

Looks pretty wide. My Carlyle's were somewhat similar. I'll show you mine before and after they broke in to see how much they closed.

You could try a vamp stretcher if you want to close the V a bit.

That looks much better. And I would straight lace the Cornwallis. And most oxfords.

Definitely better. I think with break-in they will be spiffy. But, the big question is: How do they feel?

And I would straight lace the Cornwallis. The only balmoral shoes I don't typically straight lace are my Rough Collection i.e. McTavishes, Ridgeway and Elgin. Oh, and my Neumok. I forget that one all the time. Maybe a double leather sole would help me remember.

They feel just fine, straight laced the Cornwallis before dinner. Thank you very much for the assistance.

I'm not at vegan yet, but less steak means more shoes. [IMG]
