There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Can someone tell what it means on the AE website when it states "Sweepstakes participant" next to someone's review? What kind of sweepstakes is this?

I'm always down for a quick scavenger hunt. Those look like Kensingtons, released in Fall 1997, according to https://issuu.com/allenedmonds/docs/fall-1997-catalog. They look really nice; if they were a half-size smaller, you might have some competition on the auction [IMG]

Nothing too special, just a non-standard size (2E width) and Dainite sole.

Found these 4 last NIB aged Cantons for $70 shipped (best offer accepted).
    -seller: brunell1100 favorable experience here.
-picture is right out of box on delivery, scuffs are all very minor/normal wear and tear if worn.
-love the leather sole /mini lug combination, wish they had a storm welt

Looks like a grain Bradley. Great casual shoe.

It doesn't seem to come up much, but does anyone else really like the 1943 last? I think it fits me better than the 5 and looks much less blobby.

I still haven't had a chance to try it, despite that I really like the Cornwallis and the new St. John's. But then, I still don't have an 8-last shoe either. Oh, the problems of living >2 hours from the nearest AE store! There's one store in town that sells them, but I hate the idea of going into a general menswear store just for sizing purposes. They had a trunk show last year, so maybe I'll stop in if they do it again.

I like the look of the 1943 last, but it requires some breaking in for me (my Cornwallis are somewhat painful by the end of the day). The 5 last requires virtually no break in for me

It was discussed quite a bit on the last thread (maybe it was just me). I'm ambivalent on the appearance of the 1943; I like the shape overall but the toe is a bit blunt for me. They make some great-looking shoes on the last, though, which easily overcomes any small nits I have to pick.

What sinks the 1943 for me is the fit - for my foot at least, it is horrifyingly bad. Supposedly it is based on the 333 but this is pure rubbish. The 333 is my best AE fit and the 1943 is by far the worst. Glad it's working for you though!

No experience with the 1943 last, but I will say, I don't like how the 1943 shoes do not have piping. Yeah, I know you're all tired of hearing me bitch about this. I've decided to start an online petition to bring back the old piping.

Even my Wilbert's that I'm using today have piping. I rarely wear these anymore it seems.

What edge dressing do you guys recommend for walnut colored shoes. Id like to maintain the natural color of the leather sole.
