    My top 10:
    Dalton/oxblood; Strand/oxblood
    Grayson/brown; Mccalister/walnut
    Warwick/oxblood; Ascher/oxblood
    MacNeil 2.0/brown; McGregor/oxblood
    Mora 2.0/brown; Strand/suede

Ugh I need more oxblood...also have a lot of ties in my list.

Meh. Just a fad. 25 years ago all the mags were flooded with Cousin Eddie's white loafers.

So I sent my bourbon MacGregors in for inspection a few weeks ago. They were a year old, purchased as factory seconds and looked fine, but a lump started to develop in one of the footbeds as they broke in. AE tried to exchange for a new pair but they only had one pair left in bourbon and they looked TERRIBLE. So AE is sending me a gift card for my original purchase price of $200.

Kind of frustrating because the bourbon MacGregors were great--not too light (I'm not a fan of walnut), and very versatile.
I currently own black Lexington wingtips, dark brown strands, chili Daltons, oxblood MacGregors and brown long branches.

So, what should I spend my $200 on? Im considering the Lasalles that are on clearance. I know strands are on sale but I don't love walnut, nor do I want cornwallis'. Would prefer something a little more casual leaning. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Lasalle is a great shoe, but not really a casual shoe imo.

If I had to give a definitive answer, I'd say the shell fits a tiny touch looser but nothing I'd change size over.

+1 to you for the appreciation of the Grayson. Getting tired of people gushing over the Cavanaugh trying to get it to fit. The 114 sucks big time - I wish AE would do away with that one altogether.

Just trying to remember, I've tried a shell Leeds & Randolph (along with their counterparts). Similar feel - touch looser but nothing significant.

    My AE lineup:

    1. Walnut Strand
    2. Merlot Hopkinson (god these are nice)
    3. Brown Saddle Vernon
    4. Dark Chili Park Avenue
    5. Tan Saddle Gobi
    6. Red Maritime
    7. Brown Kirkwood
    8. Brown Strandmok
    9. Black Harrison
    10. Chili Bradley
    11. Bourbon McAllister

Kind of overloaded on chili. Would like to add something oxblood and maybe a walnut derby. I also need a good calf loafer, like a Kenwood. Although there is a pair of tan Alden pinch pennys on eBay. Also would love a Dundee or Amok if the right one falls to me.

If I were you I'd go with:

Walnut McAllister or Dalton. I say this because I think the Cornwallis is a bit dressy to wear with jeans and since walnut goes so well with denim, I'd hesitate on getting a walnut shoe that wouldn't work well with jeans.

Brown shell strands are incredible and would likely fill your brown calf need as well. I mean, would you ever reach for a brown calf shoe if you had brown shell Strands?? I would struggle.

I would switch the brown calf need to a shoe in burgundy/merlot/shell #8. Maybe the Hopkinson or Park Avenue or a wingtip like the McAllister or MacNeil. I filled this need recently with a vintage pair of shell Florsheim Kenmoors made in 1976.

I do. My oxblood graysons go pretty darn well with my merlot wide basic belt. My oxblood isn't as bright red as others I've seen which helps the matching quite nicely.

If you need a good calf loafer, I'd highly recommend the brooks Presidio if the fit works for you.

I thought it might be dressed down with dark denim?or is walnut strand better for that? Or should I wait for walnut macneil to go on sale?

have those too and wear them often, but honestly not a fan of the suede quality...not very pliable or soft.

My AE lineup is heavy with loafers. I'm working on getting a more diverse group.

    3. Black Manchester
    4. Black Westchester
    5. Oxblood Grayson
    6. Merlot Strand

I'll stick with the original idea of seven.
    My current seven favorites:
    1. Strand - bourbon
    2. Rush Street - olive
    3. Flatiron - brown
    4. First Ave - walnut
    5. Dalton - oxblood
    6. Cronmok - brown
    7. Clark Street - brown
I probably wear the Clark Streets more than any others.
