My suede Dundees are very comfortable. I ordered a pair of brown grain (for the Dainite sole) Dundees that were not made properly and thus are going back. The brown grain leather in the Dundees is a little stiff and plastic-like. It seems like a different (lower?) quality leather from the brown grain MacNeils and and Leeds I have.

I've never had a problem with the suede Dundees rubbing and they are pretty soft.

Love my blue gunboats, but the irony is I would have preferred black edge. But it was a GMTO so I deferred to the group. Also it's a gunboat, and so more casual. For an Oxford, black will always look most appropriate with navy or burgundy!

That, and AE won't do welt changes anymore. :(

Good luck, I'm sure they'll look awesome.

Looking at the full picture spread on the website, I suppose it does tie in better with the burnishing. I think I'm really going to have to see one in person.

Well, as a follow up, I did order a pair of no show socks from Allen Edmonds and have tried them out. These are by far the highest quality no show socks I have tried on, but the primary problem is that they don't fit my feet. They are too big for my size 10 EEE. The idea that one size fits all for no shows is ridiculous. I think if you are size 11-12, they'd fit great.

I haven't tried the Ninja yet, but I ordered some SmartWool no shows in size Large (they have 3 different sizes thankfully), and these fit just right for my feet.

Try and call and see if they can add danite for the normal sole change option.

Love my Dundees. I have snuff suede and brown grain. I always get complements on the suede. My Next acquisition would be some shell, but I really wish I could change the welt and edge dressing. So, I am holding out until that happens.

I've been wanting strands for a long time and I was going to get them in walnut until this midnight navy came along. Had to get them. Walnut will have to wait for another time, perhaps in the Bartlett. I like the Cornwallis but for some reason in navy it doesn't look as appealing. Really like it in chili. These sales are becoming dangerous.

The only way I'd consider wearing a navy calf shoe is in a casual style, but the black welt/edge negates that for me. It's the reason I never pulled the trigger on any bourbon. I like black welt/edge on black and merlot/burgundy shoes only. Otherwise, brown/natural for me.

To my admittedly fairly untrained eye, the Cornwallis seems a much more formal shoe than the Strand. Given a choice I'd probably go Strand.

    So I am. :D

Thanks for the response. I think the Cornwallis will be fine if I only wore them to work which is business casual 95% of the time and suit/tie 5% of the time. I'm hesitant though because I feel like they wouldn't be good with "going out" attire.

Another option I was looking at was black Chelseas. I already have a black captoe shoe that is "good enough" for work and a pair of formal looking loafers that I alternate.

Maybe the chelseas will be of better use for what I'm looking for in a shoe.

How is the fit of the 1943 last on the Cornwallis relative to the 5 last?
