My latest shoe bank purchase, walnut Cornwallis and matching belt!

It's interesting that the Cornwallis is lighter than my older walnut pairs. I've worn the Daltons and Sanfords to my local AE store and the display models are significantly darker.

    Happy walnut Wednesday!

    Thanks.

This would be my 8th pair of AEs, but my first suedes. I'm primarily looking for something to wear with odd jacket and trousers or with a sport shirt and chinos sans jacket. I'd definitely replace the laces but leave the edges as is. Which do you think better fits the bill?

I think it just comes down to your personal preference and the price difference. Others may have stronger opinions. I haven't gotten into suede very much; my only suede pair are Wolverine 1000 Mile boots in grey suede, and I bought them on a whim from STP after the price dropped to around $100.

FYI, I'm going to be selling my dark brown Shaker Heights boots, size 9E. They were seconds but for the life of me I've never been able to find out what the defect might be.

Worn 2-3 times, but I just don't find myself reaching for them often enough in my rotation to justify keeping them.

Other people have mentioned in the past that they would like to filter by location. I agree with that idea 110%.

Yeah, yeah, but I've found my experiences have been opposite of yours, so I guess I'd have to read it with the George Costanza approach in mind.

It wasn't that long ago I kept noticing on those printouts an unfamiliar four digit model number in my size, but no name, that never seemed to sell. After a few weeks and several printouts of seeing this mystery shoe I called about it. Turned out to be a McGraw loafer in truffle shell.

I couldn't whip out my card fast enough.

    Indoor, iPhone, etc

In real life a little darker indoors but close to accurate in outdoor light, coincidentally.

    "My Monkey"

I have a little monkey, who rides upon my back.
He’s usually well behaved and curls around my neck.
But suddenly he awakens and screams into my ear.
Its oxfords and boots he needs and it happens several times a year.

First he screamed on Father’s day, but loafers calmed him down.
But then he wanted shoetrees and belts in black and brown.
Same thing happened on Memorial day and this time it took two.
This monkey makes me buy things and I’m not sure what I should do.

My “Black Friday!!” mailer came and the monkey started to stir.
I knew he wanted boots and shoes and what would soon occur.
So I whipped out the credit card and called up A and E.
Two pairs were not enough for him and this time it took three.

“Rediscover America” the website said and my monkey wanted to play.
He told me to fill my cart with four pairs and I knew he’d get his way.
So I’ve learned to accept my monkey and we’ve been friends for quite a while.
I’m just grateful that my monkey has exquisite taste and style.

On the off chance that someone other than legolas' dad is interested, I figured I'd post this. I recently tried the Brisbane in 7D & 8D (I measure 7.5C). 7D length was good, was worried they would be short but not at all. Huge ass toe, like a Gobi almost. The Brisbane fixes one issue by blending the lace color (cheetah laces were white), but that thick white sole contrasting against the upper....yuck. Anyway, they might look like a vans but they had a real premium feel to them. On top of that, that sole, as ugly as it was, was surprisingly supportive, like more than a Wilbert even. I'm overloaded with casual styles as it is to justify something on this end of the spectrum, but if you could see yourself using this in a wardrobe, I wouldn't try to dissuade you. I'm not a sneaker guy at all and I hated the white sole, but I had to admit, these seemed like a pretty damn solid product.

When are you going to post your Walton picture?

I think I've found my favorite casual shoe from AE. Wore it today and it was very comfortable and supportive. Dainite soles are much better than the Othello.

I don't find hem to be particularly big, but they do perhaps run just a tad wide up front.

What size/width do you normally wear?
