Yes, the "russet brown" of my Sauk Drives is pronounced "red."[IMG]

In other news, I received a discontinued bourbon Manatee belt from the Shoebank for $39.97. Though someone had written an "S" with a marker on the inside, it is flawless. Crazy good deal. Get 'em while they last.

Also got what was apparently the last Clark Street in 10.5E of any color in the system. Mine are in Natural. Again, great shapewith no seconds marking. If there is perhaps a ding or two, it's nothing you wouldn't see on CXL after a week anyway. I'm not sure why AE is dropping this shoe.

There is no rational reason for getting these since my walnut Black Hills are very similar but I have rationalized the purchase by conning myself the Clark in natty is a S/S shoe and the BH a fall/winter shoe.

    That's my story anyway.

Thank you, this is helpful. My issue is that I find E to be uncomfortably tight for many lasts but EEE to be far too loose. EE feels just right for most things on the 65 or 97 but it seems like most Allen Edmonds shoes aren't offered in the EE width.

I am trying to figure out what my options are for the slightly larger shoes where E would not be too tight for me. So far I've found things on the 201 like the Rogue, First Ave, and also many 511 last offerings to work in E. Any suggestions?

Is it just luck or has AE improved their QC? I picked up a pair of Chili 5th Ave during the sale and was very pleasantly surprised that it looked 1st quality as they used to make about 10 years ago.

Have others noticed the same or is this an anomaly?

    Hi fellas
Since I do not have an AE remotely close, I resort to online buying. These are the Strands I posted on here recently. I ordered what I thought was my true size (8d), but they seem long, while at the same time the V gap is a touch wide. The pictures below show me standing on my heel with toes off the ground to accentuate the bowing. And I realize those socks aren't really working with the tan suit...left in a rush this morn.

In your collective knowledge, does it look as though I should go 7.5E? I do love the unique coloring but they are def long on me.

Those don't look that bad to me. If you raise your heel, it's definitely going to cause bowing and I don't see it with you sitting down. The v-gap might be a touch wide, but not anything to fret about if the shoe fits everywhere else. Where on the shoe is the ball of your foot hitting (you can wear them around the house and look into the shoe with a flashlight to see where your foot is falling on the insole)? When I finally found my right size, I also felt like they fit a little long, but this feeling went away as the sole broke in.

I think it wouldn't hurt to try an 8E. What is your brannock size? Also helps to post pics of the brannock reading.

I have the same experience with my walnut strand. I wear 8D and even when I tried it at the store, when walking I can feel my heel slide out a little while walking. The SA suggested padding on the tongue. Now I have the Fifth Ave, Lexington and recently gotten the Strandmok- all in 65 last - and all these fit perfectly well without the slippage. Also all my shoes bow. I have 8E, 8D, 7.5D - all bow when I walk.

It looks like my foot is slightly back from the widest part.
I printed an AE Brannock yesterday and it shows 7.5d!

The sitting down picture is me sliding my foot forward to show the space at the heel.

I appreciate the feedback. Stupid questions to ask, but my city, as great as it is, lacks a lot style wise.

Your foot may be slightly behind the widest part, but that doesn't look like much room at the heel. I can fit a finger in any of my shoes if I slide my foot forward as far as possible. Certainly try the 7.5, it's worth it if the 8 isn't comfortable. The v gap may be more about instep height than foot width, and going up in width might make the shoe fit less well in other places.

Great points, as certain skate companies lasts (spot the Canadian) have had issues with volume on my most recent pair 6 months ago.....

I would give 7.5E a shot if I were you.
