I picked the same today.
Ah, well that makes sense.
I wish they could special order the color for a premium. I like the chili colors, but it's nice to have more shades of brown.
What does JR sole mean?
Joh rendenbach (spell check)
It's a German company, Johann Rendenbach. They make the strongest soles commonly used in RTW shoes. They wear really well, last forever, and smell better than regular leather soles (what, you DON'T smell the soles of your shoes? Weirdo).
Thanks. I did some googling. Now I'm wondering if AE still does them at no charge on a resole.
Pretty sure it is an upcharge
Lolwut? The both part or the chili fifth part?
I was wearing my chili Bleeckers today and it's got the same lovely perfed captoe that I just love looking at!
Yeah, that does not make sense. "Because we can" works only while the economy is still good...
But come on, Dan. We all know shell Strands are most awesome in brown. Save some $$ and just do eet.

So a question for the FBWs ( i.e. the Filthy Barn Weasels). To turn a pair of Bourbon Stands into something resembling Dark Chili ( Bob's ?) , using polish alone, what ye suggest?
Try polishing (it'll take time though) with dark brown with the occasional bit of black thrown in. That's what I did to my Walnut Strands from a few pages back. J
I just got a pair back from recrafting, and have another pair in now. I spoke with three different people in the recrafting department, and all of them said they will not put a JR sole on a non-shell shoe, upcharge or not.
They actually charged me the $10 sole conversion fee to have a brown welt and sole edge put on my bourbon Strands, rather than the standard black.
I get the feeling that they're really trying to streamline their recrafting operation.
I'm not sure how well this can be done. Meltonian has a huge variety of colored shoe creams though. So if you're set on trying this, you're going to need something thrown in there with some reddish tones. I use their "brick" color cream when I want to add some red.
Thinking of thinning the herd just a little bit. Thought I'd let you know before I list them. They're all 12 EEE; send me a PM if you're interested.
