Yes. In that light, very similar to Dark Chili.

@jet-stream That's what worries me. They described the last as based on the 333, but then I hear from others like you that it's smaller, which can't be possible. It has to be one or the other, right? One person mentioned that it was full enough in the forefoot, but now you've got it less full than the 5 last...

I'm guessing either sample variation, instep difference, or whoever said it was based on the 333 last was straight up misinformed. Or a combination of all of the above.

Anyway, I have a little room in the forefoot on the 333 last. The 65 problems I have are entirely from instep pulling the upper up so the sides squeeze in and crush my forefoot. It'll be interesting to see what the new last is like for that, even if they end up too small and go back.

I'd totally say "screw it" but I'm getting whatever I order (priced up to $385) for half price -- I think the original Thanksgiving sale price was about $195. That seems like an awesome deal, though it is surprisingly hard to choose something to fit that hole.

This all started with me trying got get a dark brown punch toe, so I'm still trying to get brown and somewhat conservative, but not TOO boring. Something I'd wear with khaki or slacks. Alas, it is surprisingly hard to find anything to my taste, even with such broad criteria. If I search for 201, 222, and 108 lasts, I get some chili monk straps on the 201 last, and the brown captoe double monks. Carlyle (boring), Del Rey (Don't want a split toe or bicycle toe), and Overlords (totally NOT the same). Thus the gamble on the new last.

Who knows. If the 1943 doesn't fit, maybe I can give them some extra money and they'll let me upgrade to a Merlot Jefferson or dark brown Hopkinson. My customer service rep has started to take pity on me of late. If I've tested her patience too much, I'll probably just get overlords and be done with it.

This! I always wondered about that, since I'm usually the one with unusually small feet. But in AE I actually have to wear a size to a size and a half bigger than the shoes I wore before. Really weird.

As I've gotten further into the "shoe world", I realized that I was wearing shoes that were too big, so I went from mainly wearing 12s to 11s. Just noticing that most ppl on this forum are 8-9s, which surprised me a little bit.

I wore the equivalent of 7 1/2 to 8 in Europe (40-41) for ages. When I tried that with my first AE it made my feet hurt quite a bit. I ended up going with 9 for regular shoes and my Sauk Drive are actually in 9.5. Oh and I'm a EEE too :)

I've recently noticed that there are at least three of us who wear a 13B.

So after lurking for too long I'm coming out of my shell. I'm 33 this year and finally dressing like an adult. My work environment is an extremely lax business casual. Honestly as long as you aren't in shorts and/or flip flops with a wife beater, you're good to go. So I never really cared about dressing nice. For the past few months I've redone almost my entire wardrobe and discovered how amazingly comfortable leather shoes are.

    Here's my current line up:
Black - Dundee 2.0; Wolverine Montague
Brown - Mora 2.0, Wolverine 1000 Mile, Wolverine 1000 Mile suede, Strand suede
Oxblood - Strand, Warwick, McGregor, Dalton

I've debated on a walnut (love the color but brown and oxblood have been calling my name) and after reading my intro, my main question is, would adding a loafer this year be worth it? Once again, I don't even own a suit (could change this year) but I really have no need for one except the satisfaction of owning an awesome suit that fits. As crazy as this is, is 33 too young to own a loafer??

I wear chinos, dark denim, and have a couple pairs of not quite slacks but could pass for dress pants. Darker gray, gray, olive, navy, stone, and plum are the colors I have for pants. (The plum are pretty sweet, they are what I was wearing today with the McGregors)

    Thanks in advance.

I'm 44, and I'm sure there are people who would say I don't dress like an adult. I try to dress like a practical, middle-income guy of 44.

That said, it looks like you have a nice shoe rotation. I have one loafer in my lineup, and I only wear it about once per week in the Summer. In my opinion, it's an extra at best. I'm sure some will disagree with me, but, oh well.

Nope, agree with you. A loafer will help. More towards the nicer Spring/Summer/Fall days and will go with chinos. I'm 35 and added a loafer to my lineup last year and now I've been yearning for nice weather again so I can wear them.

See the bold area as well. If the environment is extremely lax then you can pull off a loafer. You might be surprised to see others admire a nice pair of loafers and want some of their own.

Has anyone ever managed to get a sale price shortly after an AE sale ends? I just noticed a pair of oxblood Strands that are calling my name, and I did not see them there before the sale ended. Do you guys think it would be worth a shot to ask for the sale price?

How do you compare those against the Wilbert? I would have assumed exactly the same but people have been commenting they run larger. Would be interested to hear your take.

Too young? Never too young - last time I counted I'm up to 15 pairs of loafers I think. Plus you're in luck - you can probably pick up the Steen for pretty cheap right now. It fits almost exactly like the Mora 2 (both of which weren't good for me).
