Thanks. That is good to know. Never owned a burnished pair before. If you don't sell them before my Larchmonts come in, I will keep you posted on how the last works for my feet in 11D. I will be out of town for a few days but they should come in when I get back on Saturday.

Heading home from Cleveland in my "Mistake Cognac" McTavishes.

Easily one of my favorite shoes - really comfortable and I really dig the antiqued look of the defective finish.

How long until you get a pair of wally Strands? Again though, those McAllisters look fantastic.

Sounds good. I'm in no rush to sell them and would prefer that they go to someone I know (IRL or SF) instead of dealing with ebay.

The recent post about mistakes in Ebay ads inspired me to create several helpful posts about what not to do in Ebay photos when its time to seel your shoes. Today's starter is entitled "Get a little closer to the shoes." This seller provided 4 crack job photos in poor light and at a great distance. The fact that 3 were out of focus added something to the ad, as did the fact that this one was posted sideways. I wish I had the original rather than this thumbnail, but it really would not have helped.

If/when (we know it'll be when) I go another wally, I'm eyeing the Bartlett. Not quite the jump to shell, but a jump to the higher quality nonetheless. I need more belts...

What leather conditioner do you all recommend for burnished shoes? AE Conditioner Cleaner took it off and I'm hesitant to use it again after they refinish them (they offered to do so for free).

Wait, deep discounts not listed on shoebank? Help a brother out! Where do I get the details?

Look on ebay for belts. You can get them for for less than half price than retail with not much wear. I just picked up a chili belt brand new for <$40 shipped.

As for the Bartlett, obviously the Indy line is king, but I think I prefer the luster of the standard calf for walnut.

I've got two pair coming back from recrafing and another pair (hopefully) as replacement for my defective McGregors. I figure the McCallisters I bought yesterday will come in under the radar...

I use saphir renovateur on all my AE shoes that are not burnished. Based on what I see it take off of others, I'd be surprised if the renovateur didn't take off as much or more of the burnishing.

Similar problem. A pair of chili Dainite fifths from AE that I previously convinced her I "needed", then 5 pairs from Bloomingdales that I bought yesterday (black and walnut carlyles, walnut Mcallister, brown strandmok, plus a pair of black carlyles for my brother). Zero chance of hiding. Hopefully at 160/pr she'll eventually forgive me.

Ugh......cant remember exactly where I saw the details, but im pretty sure it was in this post maybe 10-15 pages back. Someone basically listed about 15-20 shoes that they were offering at like $80 - $100 off shoebank listed prices. I called their thomasville, OH store and placed the order directly. You might want to try calling them and asking for details as to which models are discounted below shoebank prices. They were very helpful when I called. Sorry I dont have more specifics, but maybe someone in here who is more familiar can point you in the right direction.

Basically the discount is on the models that are currently on sale as firsts on the main AE website. If you see a model where seconds on the Shoebank are more expensive than firsts on the main AE site, you'll be able to get the $80 to $100 discount on seconds if you call or visit in person. For example, Fifth Streets are listed at $295 for firsts and $299 for seconds right now, but you can actually get the seconds for $199 if you call.

This sale is how someone got the First Ave Boots a few posts back for $249.
    There you go
