Agree with the Maritime and Kirkwood comments. Have both and love them. Sporting my Kirks while on a weekend getaway.

Can anyone enlighten me on the fit of the Dryden in comparison to currently used lasts? Dryen last ends in a 2 and no such last is currently listed. Byrons on the 4 last work fairly well for me and a comparison would be nice. Most balmoral shoes from AE do not work for me. Large V gap and tight across the vamp. So, any comparisons to the 5 last would be appreciated.

I have Drydens, Byrons, and some 5-last shoes. I don't want to comment on the fit from memory, but I'll do a side-by-side comparison and post again when I get home tonight.

It's Sunday, so I don't really care about the time, but I do have a couple of questions. First, does anyone else think the Bellevue is the least comfortable AE shoe they own?

Second, do you think the finish on this GB CXL will hurt the qualities of the pull-up leather?

My Bellevues are comfortable.
I don't understand the second question.

I mean, they seem to be heavily shined. Do you think that brushing, for a long time if needed, will still enrich them like it does other CXL? I love the pull-up leather qualities of my other CXL pairs, but these look like they might have a protective coating over them, or something.

My Bellevues don't seem to have any sort of additional protective finish. But I feel like my Clark Strrets (natural and dark brown) do.

I don't know what it is...maybe nothing. But I don't see it on my Rush Streets, Oak Streets, Kirkwoods, or Maritimes, which are also supposed to be CXL.

I think the Drydens might work for you. They definitely seem to have more room across the vamp than my Strands, and fit similarly to my Byrons.

Here are the Byron, Strand, and Dryden from the top. All are size 8.5D, and the Byrons and Drydens both seem less tapered than the Strands:

Here is the Dryden and the Strand in profile. The Dryden looks a little bit taller/fuller:

Here is a Dryden and a Strand on my feet, and a Dryden and a Byron. All are tied as tightly as I can get them; I don't have much trouble closing the V-gap on any of them, but the Byron and Dryden are fully closed, while the Strand is a little bit open:

Need some help with belt coloring. Wondering if it is possible to get a belt that would go reasonably well with both my chestnut 6th aves and my cognac McTavish below?: Looking at the clearance belts on ae's website.

If you are looking for one belt to match both of those, you might be better off with just brown. I have the cognac belt to match the McT's, but I wouldn't try it with the chestnut; too much red. I would wait until the sale starts and see if there are any brown belts on sale. Clearance is pretty slim pickins right now, unless you are 42-48" waist.
