Allen Edmond Lucca bit loafers. Made In Italy. To buy or not to buy?

I like Gucci bit loafers the best, but I tried on the Allen Edmond Lucca bit loafers and liked them ($295). Has anyone tried them on or owns them? Please share your opinions. It is black suede with a silver bit loafer. It says Made in Italy, which surprised me since I thought AE was made in the USA. Does anyone know who makes AE shoes in Italy? Could it be Gucci?
