I doubt it if they're re-launching under another name.

Interestingly their website hasn't been updated for a couple of years now, still stating that they were opening an online store in 2007, this weekend however it went into "Site under maintenance"

xavier_06, do you have an update from the area?

Shame, I have a pair of RL Polo shoes, made by Sargent, which I always thought were pretty good. Maybe if they go under AE will buy their lasts and lack of 360 degree welt?

Yeah, my money is on a pre-pack administration, assets sold into new company and debts sunk with old. If it is set up in advance there is very minimal downtime between the two. Not very nice for the creditors, but untill the UK company law is changed entirely legal.

Groover...sorry for the delay.

Alfred Sargent & Sons supposedly closed down.....

The next week it was "Sargent manufacturing ltd"...this was closed an reopened the next week as "Portland footwear ltd". Now this has been closed and Alfred Sargent & Sons re-emerges!!!

Three companies in three weeks!!! Sounds very very dodgy to me....

The redundant workers have STILL not had the money owed to them

One of my friends, who still works for them, has told me they recieved no wages for the first week....he was told they can't pay them while in administration? The second week they received £75 each as a token payment and this week they didn't receive anything!!! Apparently a few of the workers tried to strike but were threatened with the sack!

How can this happen in the 21st century?????

The mailing I received from Gaziano-Girling to announce their upcoming US visitation schedule noted that G&G have moved production to a new location in Northampton. I tossed the letter and can't remember the specifics - it wasn't a named maker facility, just a street address. G&G had used the Sargent factory in the past.

You’ll find it on G&G’s website: http://www.gazianogirling.com/content.html

They are due to open their new production facilities tomorrow (Monday). I believe, they are now based in Masefield Road, Kettering. I’m afraid, no google ‘streetview’ available for Kettering (yet).
