I am thinking of ordering a pair of Hannover boots on the AS 87 last, but wonder how the size is. I have somewhat widish but not really wide feet. I wonder if I should take a chance on my usual size or go up a half-size.

For reference:

*I can wear Tricker's 1929 last comfortably in its normal width, but in the rounder-toed Jermyn Street last (for some strange reason) I need to go up a half-size.
*In C&J I need the F width (i.e. one step above their "normal" E width) in the 341 and the 236 (Connaught) lasts, while the E width is too tight on my outer toes and the G-width C&J shoes tend to be too loose in the heel unless I go down a size.
*Meermin's Hiro last fits me comfortably. (I have seen other people claim that this is narrow but I find it similar to the F-width C&J Connaught).
*Meermin's Rui is OK, but just a little bit too roomy (may work for winter boots worn with thick socks but probably not for shoes, as they would slip).

I have the Hannover and also two other shoes on the 87 last. It is a roomy and generous last.
I wear 7.5 in Hannover and for reference size 8 in Carmina Rain, C&J 337 and AS 109 and 99.

Thank you. I think I will take a chance on the 87. If it works out well, there are other nice shoes on the same last.

I have just slightly wider feet however most F's would fit me. I found the standard size 8 was perfect on the Hannover. I had to move down 1/2 size on the 7WK last but the 87 last I am very impressed with due to the perfect fitting and elegance on this last.
Might be worth speaking to Richard at shoe healer as he could compare your fitting with other lasts.

thinking about buying the Ramsay double monk but also considering Carmina's as well . Can anyone provide a comparison between the two and quality differences? Assuming they both fit me quite well.

I have several Carmina's and AS Exclusives, though not Ramsey specifically. I like both brands but rank AS higher from a quality perspective.
Oak bark sole, nicer sole/waist treatment in general and a richer leather.
I also think that Ramsey is a damn good looking DM. I have a Carmina DM on Rain last which is nice, but not as nice IMO.

My experiences are the same, same size as my dress shoes on the 87.

Sorry for the late response Dan, been crazy finishing things up at work and packing. I used mahogany cream from Saphir.

No problem whatsoever, I understand you've been rather busy.

Thanks for getting back with me sir.

Good luck with everything.

hi i got the same shoes this week. i have a sizing question:

the shoe itself says "7.5 UK 8 US" on the inside
the shoebox says "8.5 US " on it
i ordered a JCREW 8.5 US Size
i wear a 9 in most shoes, and a 8.5 in an alden modified last.
so i ordered a 8.5 US (JCREW Size).

is that correct?

seems like mine was mislabeled?
